I think I am the only person on this god damned planet who enjoys Iron Banner. Sure the reskined loot and lack of lore are issues that should be addressed, but in all it was quite fun and very rewarding.
I got a new package about every 5 games, along with the constant crucible tokens and leveling up. I played solo and with friends, and rarely ever did I feel as if I was destroying the other team or visa versa. The new crucible announcer was a nice touch I was waiting for 4 years for. The new map is fantastic and the armor looks good.
I had this one match with my 2 friends on my team. We were going against a team of 4 and we were 20 points behind with 2 minutes left. We starting pushing hard making a come back. We reached 0 seconds with 96 points on either team and went into overtime. For the sweatiest 30 seconds of my life, we all went around as a group of 3 and crushed anything in our sights. We were close but started to pull ahead and ended 108-102. That was fantastic.
All in all it felt very worth my time and very fun.
Just something to note, one of my friends has just got Destiny 2 after quitting before TTK. He is around 230 on his first character and loved Iron Banner. Over all he finds Destiny 2 very rewarding and fun. When I told him about some of the gripes a lot of people had, he thought I was kidding.
Stay in skūle.

that seems more like you having a blast with a friend than actually anything to do with Iron Banana. don't get me wrong, I'm glad not everyone got shafted like me, but Iron Banana is still terrible.
-
Aren't those matches just great? I love those "down to the last second" battles. Win or lose, those are exciting.
-
Me too, man. I've only gotten a few packages but I've been pretty happy with everything I received.
-
You are not alone. I am enjoying it as well. It sometimes seems that way on these forums but most people who are enjoying it are too busy playing to come here and post about it.
-
Have you played solo or only in a full team? Cause it's painful trying to rely on "teamwork" when you're the only one really trying on your team unless you run with a full stack

So your friend didn't play RoI then, and doesn't know how good D2 could have been.

You are not alone in your enjoyment of the IB. I am enjoying Iron Banner for the first time in years. I’ve been playing as a solo (no clan/friends with me) , and I haven’t been set against well organized fire teams hardly at all. I love the new maps, and the 4x4 teams are perfect for me. Unfortunately I’ll be scarce in the Crucible after IB is done because I simply cannot stand survival, supremacy, whatever the bomb detonation game is et al... My one big complaint is that we can’t choose control or clash games in the Crucible.

You two should make love and create little bungo babies.

You aren't alone...all the forum whining in the world couldn't ruin Iron Banner for me

That's just it. You're playing with at least 3 people. You have a better chance of winning. Let's cut to the chase. Iron Banner punishes you for playing solo. Now I'm in a clan, but it's tricky for me to try to find people doing IB when most are grouping up for the Raid or Trials or something like that. So I play solo and it's frustrating game in and game out getting destroyed by clan teams. This was never an issue is D1. Sure I lost a lot of games there but it was within a reasonable amount (What I called the You Suck zone; Your team is bad enough to constantly lose but does just well enough to keep from being Mercy Rule'd/broken up so you keep queuing against them). In D2 it's been nothing but blowouts.
