Are you done grinding planetary tokens for that armor you wanted?
Are you done grinding the gunsmith for that rare gun you want?
Are you done grinding the easy new raid for that armor you want because the raid guns suck?
Are you done grinding the crucible for your Better Devils?
Are you done grinding Trials of the Nine tokens because you can't go flawless due to sweaties?
Well have I got the answer for you!
Behold, IRON BANNER! (Now with 80% less iron)
Grind endlessly for new Samurai themed armor and guns with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, but with the added urgency of a limited event making you grind harder than ever before!
Enjoy the absolute worse this game has to offer, with unbalanced teams, bad spawns, and meta players using the most broken weapons.
Fight an endless war of attrition against camping Warlocks with infinite health, or get killed in literally under a second by the Last Word 2.0. Enjoy the endless droning of sirens as the clan you solo-qued up against captures the entire map. Lose to teams with FIVE TIMES YOUR SCORE who have been spawn killing you for the past five minutes. Get killed by a rocket launcher before you're finished the spawn-in animation, or get cross-mapped by fusion rifles. Try to capture a zone while getting hit from 8 pulse grenades, which aren't at all over powered when compared to the other grenades. Discover how useless anything that isn't the meta really is, as you're killed by the Antiope, Uriel's Gift, MIDA, and Last Hope consistently. Learn how powerful Fist of Havok is as the only roaming panic-button super. Ask yourself why Bungie left the Hunter "Wombo-Combo" in the game, only to never use the wombo-combo again, as your super, Shadow Shot, is literally just Nova Bomb, but completely useless.
Wonder what the point of player choice is, as you discover the "One Path to Victory" Shaxx is always talking about is simply playing the meta, with any semblance of skill optional.
But how is this better than the Iron Banners of old?
The only difference between Iron Banner and regular Crucible? Gone.
That pesky lore of the Iron Lords nobody cared about? Gone.
The uniquely modeled weapons of previous Iron Banners? Gone.
The ability to buy items as you progress? Gone.
The chance to get Iron Banner items as an post-game reward? Gone.
The ability to re-roll weapons? (bet some of you forgot about that) Gone.
The rewarding experience of obtaining high level loot and powerful items? Gone.
All those toxic downsides of Iron Banner are now more dead than the Iron Lords.
Instead, grind away for meaningless tokens for the RNG slot machine that gives no guarantee your time will be rewarded. Win low level gear and weapons with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, with a Iron Lord's chance in a SIVA replication chamber of getting the new Iron Banner exclusive Samurai armor, which doesn't match the theme of Iron Banner one bit. Listen to Overwatch easter eggs that remind you of better games you could be playing, and end your week feeling hollow for spending all your time grinding for the armor you wanted, only to get an endless supply of Iron Banner themed garbage sidearms.
Let us take a moment to thank Bungie for this event.
This event that showcases every single flaw of Destiny 2.
This event that showcases the faults of the Crucible.
This event that showcases how unrewarding the game is.
This event that has managed to royally piss me off.
Thank you Bungie.
P.S. I'm never playing Iron Banner again...until some stupid new gear comes out and I force myself to endure more of this cancer and rip my hair out.
EDIT: I GOT THE HELMET!
My quest is over. I am at rest.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's posts. Well done folks. My gripe isn't necessarily with the IB or the crucible or the loot system. I personally like the grind because it occupies my time doing something I enjoy. I however, like everyone or most everyone, have a particular attraction toward a certain character and have serious issues with the lack of fulfillment these characters possess as it pertains to their purpose and the descriptions Bungie has given them. I admit that I am not the best PvP player but an average to above average player. IB and the crucible have shown the complete imbalance between titans and other characters as it pertains specifically to shoulder charge and melee. First off shoulder charge is completely worthless. Any of you titans experience the same? As for titan melee, an absolute joke. I have to empty an entire magazine of any weapon of choice before I can even get an opponent shield to come down and melee twice before I can get an opponent to go down. I have used a plethora of weapons to optimize damage but generally the same result. I will say that the weapon balance is pretty good in PvP but I can't say the same for the titans ability to be a war machine which it currently is not and is purported to be. If you're gonna make a titan that slow please give the character something to make it more competitive to the hunter and warlock. Bring back shoulder charge and melee for the titan. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for reading!

5 RepliesRank 40 in IB and no full armor set on my warlock. Thx nice and fun exp. Keep doing that way.

Its 4v2 on small maps, what the -blam!- did everyone expect? before you buy the next dlc come to me when that reveal starts and I let you know right off the bat if its bullshit.

1 ReplyWhy don't mods add perks to guns that way people could customize guns the way they want? Like you buy triple tap or outlaw... but only have so many slots on each weapon depending on rarity. Or have quests to find exotic mods or have them drop from boss encounters inside engrams in stead of weapons or armor? Want to grind public events for that perfect modded weapon? I might be down for that.🤔

Lol, what Grind?

2 RepliesThat was entertaining and very True about the design of some of the Maps Control point placements select ally on the Emperors Map... BUT if you were to use some of the weapons like the Pulse Rifle, Fusion and Submachine Gun you would realize there is more to a weapon than the looks... The Meta thing is very true but there is at least some room to stray... Just not as much as would be fair but isn't that the same as any other Meta in this game and most others worth playing? Almost impossible to have a variety of weapons with special perks being exactly comparable... The Coin system works to a certain extent but I would still appreciate on top of that the chance to get a drop after the match and maybe a weapon and Armor Piece to earn while tanking it up... I only had time so far to get 10 packages just playing on my Hunter and got 2 Pulse Rifles, Submachine Gun, Sidearm, and 2 Fusions for weapons which was nice but only getting the Helmet was kind of a letdown although that was the piece I wanted other than the Cloak... I'll be honest though starting to look at my inventory I am fine leaving plenty more to grind for in future Banners because I have everything else... You couldn't expect to get all weapons and all gear in 1 event could you?

22 RepliesEdited by Joyaboi: 10/16/2017 1:47:03 AMI think I am the only person on this god damned planet who enjoys Iron Banner. Sure the reskined loot and lack of lore are issues that should be addressed, but in all it was quite fun and very rewarding. I got a new package about every 5 games, along with the constant crucible tokens and leveling up. I played solo and with friends, and rarely ever did I feel as if I was destroying the other team or visa versa. The new crucible announcer was a nice touch I was waiting for 4 years for. The new map is fantastic and the armor looks good. I had this one match with my 2 friends on my team. We were going against a team of 4 and we were 20 points behind with 2 minutes left. We starting pushing hard making a come back. We reached 0 seconds with 96 points on either team and went into overtime. For the sweatiest 30 seconds of my life, we all went around as a group of 3 and crushed anything in our sights. We were close but started to pull ahead and ended 108-102. That was fantastic. All in all it felt very worth my time and very fun.
Just something to note, one of my friends has just got Destiny 2 after quitting before TTK. He is around 230 on his first character and loved Iron Banner. Over all he finds Destiny 2 very rewarding and fun. When I told him about some of the gripes a lot of people had, he thought I was kidding.
What a waste of time posting your garbage rant, nobody cares who you are or if you quit playing a video game I remind you, now go away and get mature.
-
I don't think its a shortcoming that it is hard to get the armor, at least SOMETHING in this game is a little hard to acquire. I don't understand why they made it care-bear though. Keep the damn power levels enabled, that was the whole point of an elite level PvP event. I hope Bungie will be receptive to this huge amount of negative feedback.

I hate how Salad has such a hard on for Cayde 🤢. Not only did they make him depressed but he’s constantly comparing my character to that looser when I’m playing as a Warlock.

Can you please work on the randomizer. Three days in a row now with the same Iron Banner Daily Milestone. You are developers right? You know code right? Guess not since the randomizer for Iron Banner maps, Milestones, and even Strike Playlist don't randomize very well. Got the same map 6 times back to back. Decent game but maybe you shouldn't let anyone bully you into releasing if you weren't truly ready

4 RepliesEdited by XmajorPUFFEN74X: 10/16/2017 3:54:22 PMAll i see in this posts is a bunch of ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️ cause they didn't get everything they wanted in the first week of IB. Its pretty sad when a game supposedly about the GRIND is now getting shit on cause you might actually have to GRIND a second IB to finish getting what you want. This does not mean that everything they did with IB is good.

I think Iron Banner has pushed me over the line. I hate PVP in Destiny, but wanted the Titan armour. So, like an absolute idiot, I've spent the past week grinding Iron Banner, all day, everyday and I'm still unable to get the boots, despite getting multiple copies of everything else. I swear this is done deliberately to keep us playing, it just seems a coincidence that most players are reporting the same issue. Well, I just levelled up again and no boots again, so I switched the shit off, I'm not going to be trolled by these c*nts any longer.

Edited by Tibbers: 10/16/2017 4:09:28 PMMy only complaint is that my hunter couldn't get the gloves despite three characters daily coins each day for the week plus whatever I earned while playing with friends I can't even find anything to match with some shaders Changed my opinion of being fine with the grind to being disgusted with it I'm happy to grind for stuff but I want to be able to actually get the things I wanted instead of being shafted by horrible rng during a limited time event

bump bump bump a sad short story of destiny 2 so far I laughed out loud at the "droning of endless sirens", it could not be more true, and the "end game is friendship" from bungie lol yea you better get some friends cuz you are f**ked without em
