Are you done grinding planetary tokens for that armor you wanted?
Are you done grinding the gunsmith for that rare gun you want?
Are you done grinding the easy new raid for that armor you want because the raid guns suck?
Are you done grinding the crucible for your Better Devils?
Are you done grinding Trials of the Nine tokens because you can't go flawless due to sweaties?
Well have I got the answer for you!
Behold, IRON BANNER! (Now with 80% less iron)
Grind endlessly for new Samurai themed armor and guns with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, but with the added urgency of a limited event making you grind harder than ever before!
Enjoy the absolute worse this game has to offer, with unbalanced teams, bad spawns, and meta players using the most broken weapons.
Fight an endless war of attrition against camping Warlocks with infinite health, or get killed in literally under a second by the Last Word 2.0. Enjoy the endless droning of sirens as the clan you solo-qued up against captures the entire map. Lose to teams with FIVE TIMES YOUR SCORE who have been spawn killing you for the past five minutes. Get killed by a rocket launcher before you're finished the spawn-in animation, or get cross-mapped by fusion rifles. Try to capture a zone while getting hit from 8 pulse grenades, which aren't at all over powered when compared to the other grenades. Discover how useless anything that isn't the meta really is, as you're killed by the Antiope, Uriel's Gift, MIDA, and Last Hope consistently. Learn how powerful Fist of Havok is as the only roaming panic-button super. Ask yourself why Bungie left the Hunter "Wombo-Combo" in the game, only to never use the wombo-combo again, as your super, Shadow Shot, is literally just Nova Bomb, but completely useless.
Wonder what the point of player choice is, as you discover the "One Path to Victory" Shaxx is always talking about is simply playing the meta, with any semblance of skill optional.
But how is this better than the Iron Banners of old?
The only difference between Iron Banner and regular Crucible? Gone.
That pesky lore of the Iron Lords nobody cared about? Gone.
The uniquely modeled weapons of previous Iron Banners? Gone.
The ability to buy items as you progress? Gone.
The chance to get Iron Banner items as an post-game reward? Gone.
The ability to re-roll weapons? (bet some of you forgot about that) Gone.
The rewarding experience of obtaining high level loot and powerful items? Gone.
All those toxic downsides of Iron Banner are now more dead than the Iron Lords.
Instead, grind away for meaningless tokens for the RNG slot machine that gives no guarantee your time will be rewarded. Win low level gear and weapons with an exclusive Iron Banner sticker, with a Iron Lord's chance in a SIVA replication chamber of getting the new Iron Banner exclusive Samurai armor, which doesn't match the theme of Iron Banner one bit. Listen to Overwatch easter eggs that remind you of better games you could be playing, and end your week feeling hollow for spending all your time grinding for the armor you wanted, only to get an endless supply of Iron Banner themed garbage sidearms.
Let us take a moment to thank Bungie for this event.
This event that showcases every single flaw of Destiny 2.
This event that showcases the faults of the Crucible.
This event that showcases how unrewarding the game is.
This event that has managed to royally piss me off.
Thank you Bungie.
P.S. I'm never playing Iron Banner again...until some stupid new gear comes out and I force myself to endure more of this cancer and rip my hair out.
EDIT: I GOT THE HELMET!
My quest is over. I am at rest.

Normally I stay out of the game slamming posts, but there is a lot of truth in this one. I wasn't a big fan of PVP in D1, but IB was definitely more palatable than the other PVP options. In D2, IB is hands down my least favorite activity, and I'm including Trials into that equation.
-
Bloody good write up dude. I'm not a regular PvP player but would usually run all 3 toons through Iron Banner in Destiny 1 because I liked the weapons and armor and found it fun, but after plodding my way to the emblem at level 10 on only 1 character in this Iron Banner, I will never touch the PvP in Destiny 2 again. It would have to be the most horrible, frustrating and undrewarding gaming experience I have ever taken part in.
-
Did one final atempt at Iron Banner tonight, but after getting Kerak armor legs dropping for me in the IB packages instead of the IB legs I need... I just quit. And I probably wont be playing the next IB if they dont change the packages and token system. Im done with playing game after game after game and keep getting stuff I already have... more than half of it not even from IB
-
Iron Banner was my favorite activity in Destiny 1. I haven't been a big fan of IB in D2. The issues for me are: 1. Scoring: In D1, a strong player could slay enough to save a helpless team, but now, if you go in solo, it can be quite difficult. The scoring bonus given for controlling multiple zones tilts the games dramatically. It can make games extremely one-sided. 2. No progression: It was exciting to grind D1 Iron Banner to increase your rank to chase after a coveted weapon or piece of armor that were being sold by the vendor. Iron Banner weapons often had great stats and were quite unique. But now, all the rewards are RNG or are merely cosmetic and there are no ranks so you don't feel like you are advancing. Why play when it doesn't feel like you are progressing towards anything? 3. I just miss 6 v 6.

Save your hair for when you have to pay for the (extra content).
-
I dont agree with the whole underpowered light on the gear but im 40 odd engrams in and completed the full gun set, hunter and titan armor sets, just working on my last 2 warlock pieces now
-
Haha. Bungie this guy is a hammer and his dropping nails in your coffin. Rest in peace iron banner.
-
3 RepliesYup to everything....IB awarding items 10 levels below my power level is just stupefying. I didnt even bother grinding to 10 packages after i heard the 'reward' was a stupid emblem.
-
I've gotten so many of the same weapons, my little boy has memorized their names and laughs when they come up (he and I play D2 together). I'm not one to whine and moan, but this RNG sucks more than a broke chinese whore. Seriously, Bungie, hire a Data Scientist to write an algorithm that fixes this broke-dick RNG. It's to a point now that people just assume IB is a waste of time, and that's no good for business.
-
it´s a bad Joke . it´s lost Lifetime and so many more . But on top its epic unfair . Teams of Single Player have to fight Clanteams, and Teams of PVP Player with 100times more Games an you realy think this is Fun ?
-
"Sweaties" lmao That makes me LOL every time.
-
Replying to share my consent. This IB is pretty terrible. Absolutely zero incentive to play it vs regular QuickPlay.
-
Probably one the best post ove ever read on hear good job bud made me laugh a bit
-
I read this in an Honest Review voice off of youtube it was very good I've opened 16 packs on my titan all I wanted was the shoulder and helmet got shoulder still don't have helmet it sucks some of ya'll have grinded even more so I feels for ya'll

I <3 this

8 RepliesThere is no difference between Iron Banner then Cruc. People have a right to be upset. It is a timed event and not everyone has all the time in the world to grind the game. I have had tons of duplicates....I have played every day and done the milestones every day and turned all my tokens in on one character and I don't even have one full set of armor or every gun. Imagine being someone who can't play that often and they are getting many duplicates....I can understand the anger....I personally think the old way IB worked was better for a Timed event
-
No reason to keep playing if your tokens are being taken away after reset. And turning them in only get you dupes and shaders. yeah what rewards. same for the factions btw where the cap was 30 even. They want you to stop playing all the time and turn casual....
-
1 ReplyEdited by Quaddity: 10/16/2017 2:12:53 PM19 packages so far, all I wanted was the Warlock chest. 4 bonds, 3 boots, 1 arms, a bunch of useless weapons. All the IB weapons I've tried have sucked. We went from IB being rewarding and something to look forward to in D1 to it being just lame now. It's very obvious this team did not communicate with the first team or even play their game much before launch. If they did and still designed it this way the designers should not be in the game industry.
-
I turned in 40 packages...FORTY.. that’s 800 tokens... which would be 160 wins if I won every game which I didn’t...which would be over a full day (24hr) of gameplay in iron banner...and got all the guns about 6 times and 3 IB arms...no helm, no chest, no legs...finally today got chest. Wtf lol I know it’s random but shittttt
-
4 RepliesBro, 31 packages in and all I get are repeats. I only wanted one armor set and I can't even get that... I work full time getting 31 is hard enough for me, I wish I could use the tokens to purchase the gear. Maybe I'm just over zealous in my whining but rather than the game being a relaxing experience it's just making me more flustered when I get off work. Kinda wish I gave my funds to an indie developer with passion for the game crafting process rather than lazy RNG.
-
5 RepliesTo me, this was more of an Iron Meta instead of an Iron Banner due to the fact that almost everyone is using the same weapons.
-
Iron banner RNG drop rates are disenfranchising players. What incentive is there to play when everyone is pissed off at a really poorly designed mechanic? FYI, RNG drop systems are the metaphorical punt of drop systems. They basically said to them selves "we can actually put in time to construct a rewarding drop system, or we can shove our thumbs up our butts and make them flip a coin." Thats just poor game design.
-
4 RepliesI dont know why people complain you got more gear with this system of iron banner than any other by opening 10 of these engrams.
-
Just fyi, the armor is Mongolian-themed. Looks nothing like samurai armor.
-
Yeah it's absolute BS as of Monday at 2:20 p.m. reset tomorrow I've open 60 packages on one character and still have not got the one thing I need the boots and doubt that I will
-
1 ReplyThe irony is that they destroyed pve for the sake of pvp and the pvp is worse than ever. Lol!
