I am in the final year of my 3 year course in desktop publishing. This final year is internship from September to May. It's alright, but definitely not something I want to continue in. Neither do I have to.
Why?
Well, right now, I basically got my dream job where I can draw and stuff. However, I can't quit this last year of internship since I will then have a huge debt to pay back. Why can't I just quit and be happy with my dream job already? I first have to work at this boring place from 08:30 to 17:20, without pay, until May 2018. |:[
I find this so retarded. I am already paying loads for school, and you're getting a huge debt if you decide to quit. D:
Any of you guys had experience with this?

School systems aren't designed to create functioning adults, they're designed to create employees for the companies.
-
At least you know what you're doing with your life....
-
You can do whatever you want, always. There are consequences, sure, but no one is stopping you.
-
Grind it out. Yes it's a crappy system but you're in it, finish it the right way. Work hard with every minute you get, one day you'll die.
-
Do they offer an alternative class?

OP , although I agree with you that's just life. I as well have a great career but the hoops you have to jump through to get ,for the most part, are complete bullshit. Temporary pain for a permanent result.

Shenanigans!

Not much you can do now, push through it

Let me simplify your problem. School is stupid! Problem simplified. No schools can prepare you for life as an adult trust me.
-
That is dumb

You can’t just bail on commitments. No one forced you to take that internship or desktop publishing course. Tough it out and quit feeling like people need to give a shit about your dream job. Don’t say you’re going to do something and complain about the consequences of quitting. This shouldn’t be a surprise.

Quit. Become a stripper. Get addicted to crack. Meet a man that will help you out. Get to stay at hotels. ??? Profit.

There's a percentage of school debts that just never get paid anyway. I don't know the percentage, I just know it exists.

As a public education employee myself, and the son of a career teacher and brother of another, I could tell you some stories about school stupidity.
-
All school systems are inherently flawed, due to their insistence on teaching you what to think, not how to think. As for your current conundrum; it is better to take the short term annoyance, than the long term pain.

Edited by Slain: 10/13/2017 4:16:00 PMIt's called work experience; it's designed to acquaint you with the actual ways in which your skills are to be applied in a career you train for. How is that retarded?

Just stick it out till the end. Sometimes we have to do things in life that we don't want to do. Just realize that it's not forever, and when you finish you'll be happy you don't owe anyone a large sum of money.

Internships are a waste of time and help you marginally at best. Doing this was a bad idea however to make the decision somewhat logical, if the debt youd get from quitting is less than the pay youd get in normal workplace from now to may, then quit. Otherwise, its just six months. You could try just not showing up and them ending it instead of you if that makes a difference on how much you need to pay.
