Kinda miss the grimoire
Let me explain. I do not miss the absence of a story or lore in the game, nor do I prefer those being in a database which is inaccessible in the game. We actually get a narrative, and thats a huge improvement. However, I really enjoyed hunting around the various planets and finding things like dead ghosts, that would give me a look into the universe. I like unlocking the cards, and sitting and absorbing all the lore. It was fulfilling for me. I want to be able to find little hidden items that tell me secrets. Plus the stories they told were super interesting to me, and our in game story line lacked the same mysterious stories about the darkness, or the nine, or the hive god origin story in the calcified fragments. Am I the only one? [spoiler]sorry for the paragraph long rant[/spoiler]

I miss the Grimoire also; I do enjoy 'finding" items to scan and hearing the little comments by the ghost, but there is no way to keep track of what you have already scanned and create a "story" from these items. The concept of the grimoire should not be difficult to add to the game; when we find and item to scan, have it give us a card with the comment or the story to keep in a "journal". Also, the " lore tabs" on exotics? NO...

1 ReplyI agree with you, I also miss coming into this lore section and reading posts of lore and thoreies by anon and his clan. I don't have that now. I don't feel like I understand what's going on in this game outside of cutscenes at all

3 RepliesIt was rather enjoyable reading the lore on my free time. I like where they are going, but it seems like the lore we are given is all bite sized. Not saying I don't want this new system. In fact I like it. I just wish our guardian would keep a journal or something to log our findings. Or something.

Lore should be [i]in the game[/i], not in some little cards that you can't even access within the game which you have to go to an external website to read. That's just bad design, especially when you have games like Mass Effect and Bioshock that do lore properly and have the player discover those juicy bits of the story right there as they're playing. Maybe if Bungie did a better job with the Grimoire in D1, I'd feel more fondly about it, but it was executed so badly that I'm okay with it being gone.
