Open discussion with the lack of content and variety in Destiny 2

All I would love to start an open discussion about how we feel as gamers playing Destiny 2 and the lack of renewable content to keep us playing... I really had super high hopes for Destiny 2 and when it first dropped of course I was excited and had fun with the new content that was introduced... But here we are almost a month after launch and there is 0 conceivable reason to continue playing besides PVP. PVE - Sure the story was pretty cool and leveling my first character was exciting however after realizing that exotic engrams dropped from public events and that was the quickest way to level.... why do anything else? The Raid dropped, and........ why would anyone complete the raid more then once? the weapons and armor have no sought after perks... they boost your light if you get drops great however the power engrams will do that for you that you get each week. PVP - Trials of the nine... you go to the sacred spire after 1 win??? COME ON how exciting was the first trip to the LIGHTHOUSE in Destiny 1? I for sure can attest to my excitement it was ridiculous to say the least.. And what do you get for going flawless in Destiny 2? more items that have no random rolls and are identical and no adept weapons.. ok sure I can collect the armor just because but after that whats the point? I will admit the only game mode I play and will continue to play is Trials just because at least there is a ranking associated with that, but the 4 on 4 and lumping rockets in with snipers legitimately removes the reason of ever using anything but a rocket.... Id love feedback on this and I hope Bungie will read this.. of course these are my opinons but wow.. I used to love pouring hours into destiny and now I look to maybe get on for an hour or 2 a week and then decide to do something else.. Oh one more thing... Hunters??? the second I saw exotic gauntlets with sidearm readiness and reload as the perk it made me sick... Exotic gear is weak in D2.. -Eagle

The game lacks content, plan and simple. Anyone seen this before? Does this ring a bell to any veteran D1 players? I'd bet my PSN account that D2 is about to take the same path as D1. Lack of content, 2 DLCs that add a couple story missions, 2 strikes, and a raid followed by a year 2 expansion that will add all sorts of shit that should have been in the game since launch, and will be disguised as "this is us, Bungie, listening to your feedback." Look, many of us wanted to give the IP a chance. Many of us even returned after the flop that was pre-TTK D1 just to give Bungie the benefit of the doubt. It is quite obvious that this IP will forever remain a mediocre, 5/10 game. People will buy the content that is drip-fed to them through DLCs and the so called "expansions", D2 will come to a close, and D3 will launch with a 4 hour campaign, a week long grind to max light/power and the cycle will repeat. Now I do hope Bungie proves me wrong (but I won't be holding my breathe), and actually addresses the major flaws on their dime, not the players'. A true FPS MMO, or even an FPS in a shared world that actually allowed more than 3 - 6 man fireteams for content, had actual RPG elements, larger and more populated worlds, secret quests/bosses, and actual character progression that actually took longer than 4 hours to reach max would be amazing; it's what many wanted Destiny to become. Sadly we got a run-down shitty instance based game that cannot support more than 20 players in an area at one time. Every activity provides you the same reward; a token. Every NPC sells the same re-skinned shit for the same re-skinned currency. All the "public" areas are EMPTY AS HELL. No other players half the time, and hardly any enemies; it makes the same mistake D1 made... just BIG, EMPTY, USELESS AREAS to give the illusion that the playable areas are large scale. My 5 year old is more creative. Strikes - WTF Bungie? I put on my STARTING weapons and gear, and PUNCHED EVERYTHING to death in strikes; it still was not hard. I took the same amount of damage. Strikes are just another illusion to make it appear as if the game has some sort of playable content. They are 100% pointless to do. Raid - Shit, where do I begin...? The loot; absolute garbage. Maybe 1 or two raid weapons/armor per run, some useless keys, and... you guessed it... more -blam!-ING tokens! The encounters; such a god damn disappointment. Pleasure Gardens: Little mini war beasts as a boss that look the same as every other -blam!-ing dog/beast/wtf ever enemy in the game. Oh, but they have a different colored health bar! Shoot a flower with a damn peanut. Makes a ton of sense. Another job well done. Awesome, fun, creative boss encounter. Royal Pools; FFS Bungie! The "boss" is a bunch of little crystals hanging from chains for no -blam!-ing reason. Creative! Shoot some stationary object whilst fighting the same ads over and over again. Perfect, A+ encounter. Definitely high on my replay-ability list. Cannot wait to experience this snoozefest 3x per week. The Gauntlet: Who at Bungie likes Ninja Warrior? Seriously, I truly want to know. THIS IS BY FAR THE DUMBEST GOD FORSAKEN -blam!-ING THING PUT INTO THIS GAME. Enough said. Calus: Mother -blam!-er looks like Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs TV series. The entire encounter is riddled with bugs. I won't even go into detail on these because rather they are addressed or not, the encounter is still ASS. The only truly good thing about this fight is the fact that it is IN-GAME PROOF that Bungie learned NOTHING dating all the way back to The Dark Below. Cheesing Calus just like cheesing Crota a few years ago. I bet the next raid boss will be able to be pushed off a ledge ;) Did I mention how easy it is to get exotics, which is kind of hypocritical in of itself. Don't you think? Not that it really matters though, I mean, they are all equally shit anyways. I could go on for hours, but just like with D1, I'll just stop playing this game all together, and lurk in the shadows as Bungie runs this IP into the abyss even more throughout D2's life cycle.

  •
after realizing that exotic engrams dropped from public events and that was the quickest way to level.... why do anything else?
I know everyone has their favourite way to play, but this seems counter-intuitive to me. You're complaining about a lack of things to do and yet openly admit that you looked for the quickest shortcut you could find and then exploited it over and over. And you wonder why you're bored? I guess it comes down to what constitutes The Game in your mind. Is the game the actual activities you play? Is it about shooting aliens or other Guardians in the face with your friends? Or is it just about taking a character from 0 to 300 as fast as possible?
