Who cares what the NRA says. The Most they will be able to do is increase the age limit on purchasing mature titles from 17 to 18.

Or get the ratings changed so that M is now A. A games can't/won't be sold in most stores. That is a possible issue.

A rated games can absolutely be sold in stores. If they changed this then the game industry would just treat A as the new M

They can, but they aren't, and would they? Let's say current A games had to stay A. Now would they be so keen on selling A games?

the ESRB is also entirely optional.

Optional in that no store will sell your damn game if you chose to ignore it.

Game stores and disks are on their way out. Within 20 years the industry will be almost entirely digital distribution.
