I don't even pay attention to super trees and that sucks

This game has been so dumbed down and it makes me sad. I'm still playing, still having fun, but I have this empty feeling that wasn't there during D1. I can't name gun perks because they don't matter. I can't name bosses beyond Ghaul because they're not memorable. As the title suggests, skill trees are so watered down and unimaginative that I don't even pay attention to them. I can only think of about 5 different gun names because they all seem to run together. There's no more "I have to take a 'luna into crucible." It's been replaced with, "better use an auto or scout - any one will do fine." Getting an exotic is pointless because their perks are beyond worthless. They're just infusion fuel. Exotic chest piece that reloads your kinetic weapon when Ghaul farts! Cool! It's just so watered down. What the hell happened? If they wanted a bunch of Master Chiefs running around shooting with a generic AR they should have just kept making Halo games.

Bungie, I don't need my hand held when it comes to armor and weapon perks. I enjoy variety, and as far as I can tell, the skill trees are simple and boring. I want more room for creativity. I want to mix and match perks. Instead, I feel like a 3 year old at pre-k being micromanaged by a fussy teacher and being told how I should play with my blocks. It SUCKS. Do not insult our intelligence or assume we're stupid and can't figure things out on our own. This system is infuriating, and is discouraging me from wanting to enjoy this game. The story was good, though. Good on you for that. But you definitely took a step back with gameplay mechanics. On that note, making shaders a one use item is such an awful killjoy. What was wrong with shaders from D1? What is the point of this? /frustrated opinions

    • Why can't this game have 50 or so skills for you to spec per skill tree? Oh yeah, forgot, its supposed to be braindead simple so the simpletons aka dudebros wouldn't be lost and understand what's happening. Nice mindset... thanks f*ck not every company is as dumb. I'd be pissed if my Souls games because as braindead as Destiny.

    • Agreed. The superpowers in this game feel really devalued. I definitely enjoyed the D1 super trees, especially when running raids. It made customization and strategy more interesting based on strengths and weaknesses of your character. Now it is "choose option A or B." I understand that dumbing this down was designed to make it easier for new players but I think they went a little too far.

    • Its call of duty with space magic. Is CoD complicated? No. Why? Because its made for dudebros. Destiny was tuned to please the EXACT same crowd. Enjoy your trash. Trash that even a 5y old would be able to dominate in lmao.

Bump. I argued against the new skill trees before release and every one said I was just crying and complaining about nothing. Who's crying now?!
It's me. I'm crying now.
• Yep, it feels like I have half the things I had in d1. Everything is dumbed down. I fully blame PvP for these changes.

I find it so ironic that one of the biggest challenges to overcome in the campaign is the loss of the Light. When our guardian gets the light back suddenly they become this being that is perceived as being exponentially more powerful than all of the former guardians. Yet truth be told, our powers are used so infrequently that the only REAL difference is that we get resurrected when we die. Hell, if Zavala wanted a shield so badly he could have just stolen one from the cabal. He could have lit hammers on fire and started chucking them around to replace his super. Ikora could have just gotten a few really big grenades or lit some swords on fire while boosting with a jet pack. Cayde could have kept doing...whatever it is that he does. Aside from a different super, the difference in sub classes is negligible because we never have our abilities active enough to actually change our play style. On warlock I might have to remember to hold down R1 on void walker to use alternate skills, or that my rift now grants an arc soul on storm-caller, but other than that I don't have to change hardly anything until I pop my super. Hmm, do I want a super that Is a one and done big explosion, a ranged super, or a super that I can just blindly attack knowing I'll get a kill if someone doesn't head shot me fast enough. Why bother giving us classes if we only get to show how we're different once or twice in a match. Also, on the note of being watered down and cookie cutter. Getting golden gun from the shard feels like such a wet noodle of a moment. Oh boy, i get to kill a hundred enemies while reloading my clip every three shots. I can understand having hordes of enemies for almost every other super except for golden-gun. It's not like it even shows off how strong it is, most of those enemies get one shot regardless of what you use.

          • Remember when we had exotics that we could adjust our skill tree to make somewhat unique builds(definitely was pretty basic compared to other games but still better than d2)? I like D2 gameplay but it's pretty poor when it comes to basic things. I feel that D2 is a great sequel to D1 vanilla...but not D1: ROI

          • I dunno about you, but I never use the AR in halo. I will Melee shit before I use that thing. Just saying, haha. The accuracy was terrible. I swap that out for literally any other weapon in the game. That said, I understand your point and agree with it. If they were gonna bring back exotics they shoulda left the perks alone.

Totally agree, but would go further to say I don't even pay attention to what class I'm playing. In D1 each class had at least one perk that made them unique - invisibility, revive etc.. When they added class specific weapons that again gave some purpose to having all three classes. Now it just feels bland..

              • I just get the feeling that everything they have changed has been to make the developers lives easier. No rolls on weapons is just the worst thing they could have done. I can see maybe that they wanted everyone to have a level playing field but they should have compensated with giving us more variety of each weapon type perhaps as half the time now I cant even be bothered to see what my engrams are as I know I will have it.

                • The two skills trees are always vastly different...who cares if you can name them, doesn't make them less unique to eachother. Nobody memorizes the names in this game because a lot of them are super weird... Even the farming materials became ridiculous names.

                    • Let's be honest, editing your skill tree in D1 wasn't common and the effect it had wasn't anything spectacular. Gun perks are essentially the same as in D1...you know only the gun stats are normalized, the D1 perks are still there. Right, instead of Luna to crucible, we have, "take mida and uriel's gift" lol. But as you said, being able to take any auto and scout into crucible and be able to keep up with META weapons is a GOOD thing... nobody likes D1 crucible where a random rolled gun outshoots you simply bc the perks were OP. Some exotics are good. Some are not...that's why some are given to you and some drop randomly... It's not necessarily watered down. It's balanced. You want complexity? Go take a look at armor resiliency and how there's damage drop off of ttk based on weapons and optimal distance and resiliency level.

                      • So I don't think anybody could argue that they haven't watered down the subclass trees, but I disagree that you can ignore some of these things and they don't matter. Now I can't name a single perk for a gun or subclass, but I see noticeable differences between the two options for subclasses and honestly noticeable differences between different guns. It would have been awesome to have more options instead of less, but really, for subclasses especially, it feels that they just removed the useless options and bundled things together.

                      • oh please. its obvious that they took the best perks and bundled them together. one tree is for pvp and one for pve. Now that the armor is what determines recovery, speed and strength there is no need for such a huge skill page. They still let you change the jumps and the grenades and they gave everyone a o,o option as well. my god how dense can you people be?

When u wrote this you really didnt put any thought to it. Think about it. This game is a combo between mmo and fps. Players who played both type can comprehend mmo aspects but those that dont and only played fps wont understand how it works. Bungie simplify it so they can attract both groups. Unfortunately, bungie made a right choice for business and they are succeeding. If they continue the way they were going in the past. They might not be as successful this time. Unfortunately, bungie is working to please both mmo and fps players which in terms is very difficult. Now it isnt water down but simply compacted into two trees. We can only choose one at a time. Odd im smashing with better devils with my hunter. Simpy add mods for handling and recoil and it kick ass. Also exotics are not suppose to be more powerful than legendaries but they are suppose to have unique perks. Unfortunately, they built this game for noob and sadly they make up the majority of player base.
