Please fix shoulder charge in PVP

So.... Destiny 2 is great, but there is something i am still quite disappointed about. I want to raise this concern in hopes bungie might fix this. I was an incredible shoulder charger in D1 and it was easily my favorite part of the game. Many could argue that it was OP with certain builds, and that is probably why it has been so drastically nerfed in D2. The Two things that have changed so greatly are; now shoulder charge is your Melee and can only be used once in a while, and secondly the damage the SC does has been so drastically reduced that the move feels utterly useless now. Shoulder charge is a high risk move that requires skill to get in close and fast despite enemies shooting from across the stages. I feel It should be able to bring down a normal(PVP) enemy with one hit. I'm fine with it being on a cooldown to decrease the frequency of this move happening all the time and becoming a overpowered, but it's my one melee and it can't kill anybody anymore, even damaged enemies survive the SC now. So that's my one plea to Bungie, make shoulder worth it again, keep the cool down but bring the damage up please!

    • I was an avid shoulder charger D1. Not so effective now. Picked up my gun and went to work. I suggest you do the same brother Titan. Nothing lasts forever in this game.

    • In year 1 shoulder charge was never an issue nor was it abused as bad as the last 2 years. Yes shoulder charge was able to be countered. However by the end of D1 our counters were limited. When the game had a higher TTK ability spam imo wasn't a problem because the guns also killed quickly. Then our primaries got weaker which people then flocked to using shotguns, snipers, and abilities. Then bungie nerfed special ammo which made ability spam such as sticky grenades and shoulder charge worse. My point is my problem was never with the ability itself. The weakening of everything else was the problem.

      • Then should every class get a one shot melee too? Because as it is, NONE of them can. The answer, of course, is no. He just wants the one class he plays to have a one hit kill, but the second another class gets one, he'll rage about it.

        • Fyi the one shot thing is precisely why it got nerfed and I hope it stays that way no melee should be a 1 shot kill unless it's a super based melee

          • With insurmountable skullfort equipped you would have no cooldowns as a kill instantly recharges it. So therefore, it aint gonna happen. (Id love for it to though). If they bring back the almighty Peregrine Greaves then a SC should OHK. Please do!!

            • Shoulder charge is horrible. It shouldn't be a one shot kill, but I don't even really use it because it still takes two extra melees to kill someone. I think one follow up melee should finish them off. If someone sees you coming they will kill you but if you get the drop on someone and they don't have time to react you'll walk away with the kill. Right now I die more than 50% of the time because the animation takes so long and the damage is so weak that they can out punch me.

                  At the absolute least the charging melee attacks need to have their recovery window reduced significantly. For an ability that requires a sprinting build up to hardly tickle the health of the person I slam into, only for them to casually spray or melee me to death before I regain control of my character, really puts them into a position of being mostly useless in PvP. Certainly not practical in a lot of situations. Yes, in D1 it was ridiculous that you could chain tackle people and one shot them, but you should have either applied the cooldown OR the damage reduction, not both.

                  • Yeah titans are already more op any other class this time around, let's not make them more so. Better exotics, better perks, they are juggernauts, they get to post shields, then have an exotic that heals them when they put up shields! They get two grenades, they can gain an over shield, strikers blast around the map it high speeds smashing people, exotics have given them pretty much any perk they could want from the other subclasses, etc you see where I'm going with this. I'm not saying nerf titan but I am saying be happy with what you got this time around because if you make titans too OP again they will get nerfed into the ground just like in D1. Stop complaining about your OP class it's ridiculous.

So that's my one plea to Bungie, make shoulder worth it again, keep the cool down but bring the damage up please![/quote] No. May i remind you how people abused SC in Destiny 1 So many scrubs who never fired a weapon and instead relied on that op 3 second cooldown "run to ohk" ability that no other character subclass has when running (changed up a bit depending of subclass would've been cool)

                      • Strongly agree. Shoulder tackle is in fact worse than just using a regular punch. While you're charging them you'll probably get shot a few times. Even if you don't, they melee you as you hit them, and then melee you again for the kill, before you even have a chance to recover from the tackle animation.

                          SC either needs to OHKO with a timer or be a passive(no timer) that cannot OHKO Im a warlock main and even i don;t understand how they nerfed it so hard.

                            It was high risk high reward in Destiny 1 because we always risked eating some buckshot in exchange for a one hit kill. With shotguns no longer being available at all points throughout a match, having a one hit kill melee would be a little op, then again some of the HUNTER melees could use some tweaking. Alternatively, give me a way to counter them by snapping their arms in half and stabbing them in the head with their own throwing knives.
