The sad thing about timed nightfalls is since they tied Rat King to having five minutes left they either have to come up with a new challenge for the last step or keep them timed. I think that's why they haven't retconned it already tbh. They have seen tons of negative feedback on the nightfall.

How about changing it to 'beat the nightfall' and get rid of the timer? The gun sucks anyway. It isn't worth the frustration.
-
I'm not sure if I'd rather have a timed nightfall, or Kick to Orbit on a wipe at this point. Timed Missions are second only to Escort Missions in terms of "Bad Ideas in Game Design."
-
Yeah escort missions are trash too. I think having a pool of deaths before wipe to orbit would be smarter.

Getting negative feedback on the nightfall doesn't mean they'll change it. The people who the nightfall is geared towards, the people with a group of friends who want a challenge of coordination, generally appreciate the new nightfall. A majority of the complaints are coming from people who want to solo it like they used to, and that's the entire reason they added the timer in the first place. The Nightfall is not meant to be a solo activity.
-
The majority of players aren't neckbeard YouTubers. The nightfall should be geared towards all players. We all paid for the same game. If you want a challenge, go play Bloodborne or Dark Souls. This is a space magic FPS. Timers aren't fun.
-
The people who the nightfall is geared towards is like 2% of the player base. If they cut off that much of it from the rest, less people will continue playing and so that means less people will spend money on micro transactions. Once bungie see a dip in the playerbase, especially towards endgame activities, they'll change something at least.

I don't know i don't consider myself "hardcore" but I've had no trouble getting the nightfall done every week. Was lucky enough to get guided games tickets last week, and get a group that way, but even weeks 1 & 2, I just hopped on one of the many LFG sites out there and cobbled a group together. One of the pugs I went with for the Inverted Spire strike performed so well we even decided to clear the prestige mode! We failed plenty of times, but eventually got our process down and nailed it with over 2 minutes left in prestige. I think the problem stems from people expecting to clear things in one shot, and not being used to failing, which is expected in genres like Darksouls rather than Destiny. Just keep at it, and don't throw your hands up in defeat after a failure!

Negative, first two nightfalls, ran them no problem with clan mates. This nightfall.. total trash. No matter what you do, you can't go into the boss with more than 7 min. He disappears for 5 of those 7 minutes. So bullet sponge that is just gone 80% of the time equals a shitton of time lost and a frustrating crap of a nightfall because of timing.
-
Assuming you're talking about normal, i finished it with ~6:30 left on the clock (~11 minutes entering). Fastest and safest way to beat him was to all group up on one platform and defend it with your lives. Focus him when he appears and force him to disappear. Clear adds during this downtime. Rinse and repeat. You wouldn't believe how much time groups waste running around the map separately trying to get one or two pot shots in before getting picked off by adds or the boss all alone. If you all stick together, you can hold your ground, rotate/sync cooldowns, and revive people faster, and safely. If you were talking about prestige, then yea I never left the servitor room with more than 7 minutes, which meant we had 5 by the time we got to the boss.

Ehh I have seen even those who like a challenge hate on it. Even Datto made a video he's not completely against it but offers other better things. A timer isn't a good challenge for nightfall. You can't enjoy it. You have to rush and constantly watch the clock. Almost no one likes that. I would rather restart if we wipe from all three dying like the old days. Or some other challenge like limited revives.
-
In Datto's video he praises the change, saying it's the least aggregious way to add challenge to the Nightfall. And I, along with all the other serious players I know, agree with him.
-
Datto is a sweaty neckbeard. He doesn't represent the majority of players. He represents the worst part of the community. The elitist douchebags. They're all over YouTube and Twitch.
-
Datto's that flying thing on Phantom Menace with the nose that looks like a dong right?
-
That's watto
-
Yeah that's him
