How the hell do you level up in this game when drops and engrams are capped at the level of your lowest piece of gear? I dismantle pretty much everything I get because I'm 273 (only because of the two exotics) but every blue or legendary drops at 266. For the last 3 hours I've been running public events and strikes with a medallion buff but got nothing higher than 266.
Bungie really went all out to halt progress in this game.

My blues are dropping at 270/272 on patrol, once you get to 280. If you've transferred weapons from another character to get that extra light your drops will be slightly lower and they'll gradually get higher.

Thanks, I didn't know the bit about transferring gear. I've had a few things drop at 268-269 now. Strangely though my drops improved when the medallion buff expired. Obviously Bungie don't want players to have more than one character...?!

I think it was to stop players power levelling by using the same character for all 3. My hunter was my 2nd and because I transferred gear my drops are a bit behind. They're slowly catching up though. Weapons and armour don't take into account the mods you have either so the base value is always -5 with mods equipped.

You can do the following for higher level gear; Nightfall Weekly nightfall Milestone Clan reward - nightfall Raid Clan reward - raid Weekly crucible milestone Clan reward - crucible Flashpoint milestone Clan reward - 5000xp earned Find exotic engrams Once trials of the nine starts we will also have that and relevant clan rewards.

Edited by AJH910: 9/14/2017 5:06:58 AMThanks for your response but (and I'm not attacking you when I say this so I hope it doesn't come across that way) that's exactly the point I made on another thread about D2 being even more fireteam focused than D1 was. I'm mostly a solo player other than matchmaking in strikes and some crucible (though I'm not a lover of crucible), and occasionally lfg for nightfall when I feel like it. I don't raid or do trials and I'm not in a clan because of that. I'm sure some people will say "well why do you needto be high level then?". To that I'd say progression and some level of achievement. We all play games to enjoy but if we're not progressing then interests wanes pretty quickly. That's what it's doing for me at the moment.

Edited by Guardian6593: 9/14/2017 4:37:58 AMYeah this is exactly what I'm taking about. It takes away all the fun for grinding for gear.
