rolling release please explain

I'm in CST. My friends are in EST and PST, and I even have some who are in Korea and Australia. Does this mean my friends who are 15 hours ahead in Australia get to play D2 15 hours before me? And my friends in Korea get to play 14 hours ahead of me? And my friends in England get to play 6 hours ahead of me? And my friends in EST get to play 1 hour ahead of me? And then, finally, I get to play 2 hours before my friends in PST? Or do they all get to play when it becomes midnight for EST?

Correct. Rolling release simply means when it's 12 (midnight) local time for each timezone, they can play Destiny 2. Depending on what timezone you're in, some players will be able to play ahead of others. Bungie/Activision has opted for this on Destiny 2 for console release.
