I was really bummed they dumped HMGs. They had there use in strikes and raids for me at least. I never saw Bungie issue a reason why does anyone know? Was it because of balancing for PvP? Personally for me R.i.P Super Good Advice and Abbadon. 😥😢 lol.
-
Corrective Measure was my baby and she will be sorely missed.
-
Super Good Advice was the third exotic I got but the first I ever earned. I loved the idea of having a semi-sentient machine gun insulting your other companion
-
The ones saying no are the nerf criers who got slayed in PvP.
-
To be honest I didn't even realize they were gone during the beta. But I mean it seemed like rockets were used much much more overall in D1.
-
I'll miss them, but honestly I usually end up using the other Heavy weapons most of the time anyways, especially in end-game content. I think if Bungie makes more weapons like the Sweet Business then it will somewhat fill the gap.
Imagine if the Sweet Business had a perk that refilled a portion of its magazine every time you get a kill 🙂
-
They removed them because "WAAAAAAAH machine guns are too OP in Crucible waaaaaaaah they hold too much ammo WAAAAAAAHHHHHH I'm not as good as I thought I was, please nerf them and save my ego Bungie!!!"
-
Definitely not a ton of year one players in this thread. For PVP Jolders Hammer or the BTRD were king. Literally nothing else came close. It was a 3 bullet kill.
-
I'll only miss a few, corrective measure, if materia and quillms terminus will forever be amazing. But getting 30 bullets and only need 5 to kill someone was a big problem and bungie is all about trying to fix PvP now so something had to be done about it...
-
Yeah, I'll miss the machine guns. I think they're another casualty of Bungie's PvP balancing, too many kills per heavy ammo pickup and ammo lasted too long for their liking.
-
I once went 27/0 in the crucible in Y1 by endlessly getting heavy ammo and mowing people down with teh HMG.
-
I honestly think in time the devs will add machine guns and 6v6 PvP as new content during the first or second update
-
They'll sell them back to us watch.
-
Me like big gun, many bullet, many miss, gonna miss big gun, sadface.
-
What was everyone's favorite Heavy MG? My overall is Super Good Advice, but close seconds are Zombie Apocalypse and Abbadon. That hidden Firefly perk though!!
-
I will definitely miss my Barons Ambition, Silvered Dread and Quillums Terminus. I really disliked the grenade launcher in the beta. I wasn't fun to use at all.
-
After the quillims terminus got nerfed I was so sad. Heavy machine guns had a use and were wicked fun on that raid. The super good advice was great but the quillims < no reload made it the most amazing weapon from that raid
-
I'm hoping that they get put into the auto rifles. At least cosmetically. They're losing 4 exotics. Not to mention my max rate of fire and max stability Unending Deluge III. I'll miss that gun.
-
Harrowed Quillums Terminus - G.B.N.F
-
Yeah. Apparently they couldn't find a way to balance them in PvP, so they got rid of them entirely.
-
I will miss my lawnmower, cutting heads of with ease and one great swoop. Found myself using them more than a rocket launcher. And the grenade launcher what a laugh. felt like a potato shooter.... Ploink.. poof.... watch enemies dust their coats and take aim. WTF. Yeah Guess we are going shotgun on our newest travels. Close combat shooting. And not go circle of bullet storms in the middle of the huddle.
-
I'll miss them but I stopped using them now it's just sleeper g-horn and darkdrinker, because I'm a damage whore :p
-
RIP Deluge
-
Definitely gonna miss em
-
Can't say I will. The times I've pulled one out and used it are incredibly niche. I used Thunderlord in Vanilla Destiny as my Atheon DPS weapon. Not not since. I used and high impact machine gun during the challenge of elders during precision weeks on Hunters and Titans for free extra orbs for points. And on VERY certain bosses in current destiny (Restorative mind, mainly), I'd use Ifmateria. Otherwise I usually have a Sword, or Sleeper Simulant equipped for their higher Utility and DPS respectively. It was likely a PvP thing. The issue with Machine Guns was their longevity and how many kills you could get per heavy brick. They likely couldn't balance the TTK and ammo to a degree that felt good and thus just scrapped, but they at least made Sweet Business to give the feel of a big heavy bullet hose.

Yep have a First Citizen with soft ballistics, life leech, high caliber, and hidden hand...nice
