Ego, emotion, religion, sexuality, blind-hate aside, is Destiny a good game ?
Is it a game that will go down in the history books like GTA, Halo, Dark Souls, Need for Speed, (Some) CoDs, FIFA, and any other popular good game?
Personally, I believe it will. I have 1500+ spent on this game alone, the last time I reached even 1000 hours in a game was GTA IV (and that was only because I had Mods lol) but yeah, I loved what Destiny has become and hope for it to prosper in the future.

4 RepliesHonestly, no. As a game, destiny is lacking. I love destiny. I have put over 2,000 hours into it. But the game is so hollow and empty. The skeleton is there but not much else. Let me break it down. Starting with the good: Destiny has some of the best gunplay in any FPS period. The controls are so smooth and paired with the unique movement it just plays so amazingly. Destiny's raids are nearly objectively the best experience in any fps, and still up there when we broaden the scope to other genres. The raids are so well designed and while compared to each other some may seem lackluster, they are still amazing pieces of gaming. Themeing. Destiny has such an enticing theme to its world that it is hard for some to dislike it because of how inclusive it is. Destiny has such amazing and yet varying themes throughput it's universe, and bungie has found a way to make it all fit into one dynamic world, built up on lore. Not to mention the lore itself is absolutely amazing. It is not only some of the coolest ideas for a story or world, but it is so well written and presented that despite the amount of writers for the grimoire, it all feels cohesive and consistent. Now on to the bad. DISCLAIMER:: this is all of the generic stuff you hear, but I will be going into a level of depth that I feel others fail to capture. Destiny's story is not there. The taken king sought to remedy this and to some extent it did but any progress taken king made was stifled by rise of iron. This would honestly be fine though, destiny doesn't have to be a story driven world and I don't think it was intended to be. But destiny's endgame was and still is just not worth it. The problem used to be that getting to max level was extremely hard and the endgame content wasn't fun and/or various enough to be worth doing. Now, max light is relatively easy to obtain and so once you have most or all of the endgame loot, it's not worth the reward to even go back and do the strikes and raids. The next thing that I'm going to talk about is the worlds. There is no reason to explore them and they are just so bland and restricted that it isn't even fun. The worlds of destiny also fail to capture any of the cool shit that can be imagined when you read destiny's lore. You will never ever feel like the badasses you read about in the old tales of destiny. You will never discover a new area and even if you did, it probably wouldn't be that interesting. You will never have to actively search the world for cool, world exclusive loot. But most importantly, you will *almost* never be challenged while "exploring" destiny's sandboxes. The only challenging activities are Archie's forge and court of oryx. By the end, the only thing that makes you feel badass, challenged or even puts a little variety into the game is pvp, and with the current state, even that's not fun. But that part is purely my opinion. Destiny is held up by its amazing community and togetherness, but that isn't a part of the gameplay. I have extremely high hopes for destiny 2. They seem to be touching on the biggest failures of destiny. The story is shaping up to be good, and on top of that the endgame looks like it will have variety, so not only will the game have a coherent story, but the part of the game that isn't about story will be dense and fun as well. I think destiny can be the best gaming franchise of all time and a game that everyone an like. Destiny has so much potential to be good, and it seems that D2 will finally fill out all of the holes that send destiny in that direction.
