Shouldn't be put in a class with GTA as that and the Witcher series are the epitome of open world games. A great game is one you can go back to a year from now and play and still have fun. Destiny is not one of those games. It's an above average shooter with below average rpg characteristics (especially the sequel), poor MMO functionalities (you can't have public voice in the tower?) but solid shooting and movement.

I never call destiny an MMO though, the massive part is kinda missing imo. But indeed its combination of several elements that makes it easy to keep playing especially if you play with friends. Im convinced that if I was an day 1 player i wouldnt have stuck around for so long. Jumped in 2/3 weeks before the dark below came and that fixed a lot of stuff that wouldve turned me of the game. It was weird though and a bit depressing after playing the first few weeks and then seeing those pre release promises. The game couldve been soooo freakin awesome *sad face*

Yeah PR screwed the pooch by claiming it was with all the "interactions in the social space" or whatnot. I had the game on release as my hunter is my only original character. It showed a lot of promise (and hype) but ultimately drowned in mediocrity.
