Yes, it redefined a genre of games. It combined the first person shooter with an RPG like no other game had at the time or has to date.

  • Fine. How about MMO + First person shooter? I don't know the best way to categorize it and maybe that's a good thing.

It [u]could[/u] have RPG elements if Bungie could write a decent story, tell the story in cutscenes with good dialogue, you could make in-game choices that affected the story, you could alter your character's appearance once you made it, you could craft items and if your character could speak.

  • There's not really room for the player to make choices nor is that a requirement of a RPG or a good RPG. Also how many RPGs actually let you change your character's appearance after creation? Short answer very few.
