Based on the menus it looks like...
...we're going to be able to use mods to switch the element of our weapons.
...we're going to be able to use shaders on our weapons and ship.
2 things people have been asking for in Destiny for ages, but no everything is terrible and Bungie never listens to us, that's the big takeaway from all this.
EDIT 1: Slugger4489 brought up some more.
Fast travel points, not having to go to orbit between every jump, and guaranteed public events too
EDIT 2: It seems a lot of people here don't understand the point I'm trying to get at. I'm not making any statement about how good or bad I think Destiny 2 will be and I'm not saying people shouldn't voice their concerns. This post is targeted at a very specific mentality that many forum users have held for a long time now and which has been a major contributing factor to these forums becoming as toxic as they are.
This idea that Bungie never listens to us and doesn't care about what we think has to stop. There is so much evidence that they do. Just to name a few things these forums asked for that we got:
- Multiple vault size increases.
- Equitable melee weapons.
- Ways of making old content relevant again (infusion, revamped raids, etc.).
- Private PvP.
- A freaking giant Shank boss. (honestly who would've thought they'd take that one seriously?)
and there has been so much more. But time and time again in the wake of problems impacting the game everyone seems to ignore the positive and pretends that everything is awful and there's no chance for improvement and Bungie is intentionally trying to ruin the game for us and bla blabla blabla.
All I wanted to do was put a spotlight on a couple things I thought Bungie did right by this community in the hopes that maybe some people would see that there are some positive things to talk about, that's all.

Finally some relevant thread! I come here everyday trying to find something cool to discuss, but I only find endless threads of nonsense complains. The elemental mods are a very important new feature, but I hope it becomes hard to get, or else it will become obsolete. D2 seems to be a lot more focused on strategy fight than just shot, shot and shot. I'm loving it!

The problem is what's missing, not what's added, PVP as an example should have all the previous game modes, rumble, supremacy, rift but unfortunately I don't see these being much fun as 4v4, rumble itself may not return what's it going to be 1v3, 1v7?
-
Anyone else here who actually doesn't give af about people bitching or defending and just likes to play the game just cuz? Just asking because it's hard to find those types of people.
-
Toxicity doesn't seem to be much a problem in my eyes. In the forums? Yes obviously, but if you have the evidence to back up the fact that Destiny is in fact a good game, then that shuts up the toxic trolls real quick. Admittedly I did have my share of "toxic thoughts" during the beta, along the lines of "is this it?" (as in the beta uses near the exact same content as the initial reveal and E3, is this all you have done? No issues with the beta size). But as soon as the official announcement was released telling us that the beta build was three months old, my doubts shoved off real quick. So for anyone who is concerned with any aspect of the game at all, before you make angry posts, do your research and keep an open mind.

Let me get hyped that they finally implemented the changes we've been asking them to do for 3 years - in a sequel!
-
i can't believe it's not butter
-
Sounds like Bungie has been paying attention to us after all.
-
I hope there are no burn modifiers cause that'd make kinetics pointless when it's active
-
Great post. But you honestly won't find a more toxic forum. Go to Reddit man. It's a much more mature place for discussing D1&2
-
And if im looking at it right, we can apply different shaders to individual pieces of armor.
-
People on this forum should be more like you and the rare other positive posts like this one
-
With everything that seems to be wrong with this beta I could give 2 shits about a ship and gun shader. Like really dude...
-
Oh I totally agree that there is A LOT of good coming to Destiny 2. The forums are flooded with whiners which is why that's basically all we see everyday.
-
This forum could be given exactly what they want and they would still find something to complain about.
-
Great post. The whiners are in full force sadly.
-
No one is talking about it because the community (whining part) = sheep. They all gather under rocks( youtube hate channels) and don't listen to reason, they don't accept the new direction the game is going, its heart breaking for them. They only fester on the small details that matter to no one but them. They dont care about stuff like this. They only want blink on their hunter and super spam, ability spam ect ect
-
All this is great. But only salt is talked about here, sadly
-
It's not an issue with BungIe not listening. It's that whenever they do make a move, it tarnished. One step forward and also two or more backwards. Heck, sometimes we don't even get the one step forward. It's been a long string of defenders saying wait til the next thing. Well, we're several next things into this journey. It been three years and BungIe has yet to truly satisfy it's fanbase. It's not hard. Other devs seem to be able to do it. Bungie just keeps doing the lazy thing to fix stuff and it hasn't been working. But they keep asking us for more money.
Based on the menus it looks like... ...we're going to be able to use mods to switch the element of our weapons. ...we're going to be able to use shaders on our weapons and ship.
As much as this sounds great, it's only based on speculation. When Bungie makes an announcement about this being true then I will. . . . . . . . . still not believe it! Once I actually see it working then I will believe it.
-
No offense but nobody is talking about these because they aren't that relevant, and frankly this is a poor attempt to defend Bungie again, and just sounds like another "look on the bright side" post. I'm not denying that these things aren't good, I'm just saying they are easily forgettable in the grand scheme. I'm not going to buy D2 because I can change my scout rifle from red to blue. Wow weapon shaders...the Bungie fashion show continues. Swapping weapon elements, you mean having to go into your menu, pull up your weapon, change the mod, then continue fighting, meanwhile you have probably died while in your menu. You could swap elements in D1 just by swapping guns in your menu. Neither of these things counter balance the negativity of some of the other stuff, just for example, the new weapon system in PVE. And for those of you that are about to post a reply telling me how great the weapon system is, go count the threads to the contrary, and articles from trusted sites like Kotaku, IGN, etc that agree. (for PVE) None of these things you mention are actual gameplay innovations, or fundamental game improvements. Not having to go to orbit to change locations. Jesus christ, this is going to absolutely change the game....are you kidding me? People have not been asking for weapon shaders, and not having to go to orbit 99% of the time since Destiny's inception. They may have improved a few of the most insignificant things, but they either broke or ignored the most important things. Example of fundamental game change: Instead of forcing 2 primaries on us so we have an elemental slot, how about just mapping a second weapon to a D-pad button. This is actually something people have been asking for for a very, very long time and there are posts about it weekly. It would solve multiple problems and it is something you have been able to do in video games since the N64 and Playstation 1. (By the way, you recognizing their skill at re-skinning everything in the game for the past 1.5 years as "ways of making old content relevant again" literally made me feel sorry for you.) I don't ignore the positive, I am just not a "look on the bright side" guy. Look on the bright side, that tornado destroyed your house, but it mowed your grass for you. That's a positive.

Pretty high on my list was in-game Clan invites.

Edited by Stealthy: 7/26/2017 8:34:29 AMImagine that you buy a car. You go to the merchant, inspect the test car, do some testing drives. You order it. And when it ships you get a completely wrecked abomination. Everything demolished, rusted, the windshield broken, no tyres ... And all the merchant has to say to that is: But the stereo still works! And you can change the colour of the car!!!! And you get a free number plate with "Destiny 2" written in it.

Wow. We got something we asked for, but we also got a bunch of stupid changes that nobody asked for. The bad outweighs the good by a lot.

Edited by Unforgiven: 7/26/2017 5:49:32 AMthis game is trash. Who cares about Gun shaders? Does anybody actually give a shit about what their gun looks like? Maybe we cared about it 3 years ago, but at this point I rather have a fun game than some shitty gun shader or a screensaver for the orbit. I personally didn't like the beta. I thought it was way worse than current version of Destiny. Not only did they take the fun out abilities, they increased cooldown on everything. I understand that this is a new game, but if it aint broke don't fix it. Did anyone ever complain that ability spam was making the game worse?
