Destiny 1:
A space loot shooter with space magic built around PvE co-op play that makes you feel massively powerful, particularly if RNG was in your favour.
Destiny 2:
A space loot shooter with occasional space magic built around PvP that requires strict balance so no one person or class feels powerful. RNG no longer needs to be in your favour because everything is so balanced.
This is an observation and not a criticism. I think it may be quite accurate. Please feel free to constructively agree or disagree below. And remember some will think one premise is better than the other.
Personally I think PvP balance should be separated from PvE balance because, let's face it, PvE is easy to balance.

D1 some of the most fun I've ever had gaming. D2 some of the least fun I've ever had gaming.

Edited by Nike: 7/20/2017 3:07:33 PMI spent a lot of time in Destiny 1. I'm liking the smoother, but slower pace of D2. As for PvE: Remember, our light is lower, so everything feels like a bullet sponge. ~TheGreatNike

D1 needs dedicated servers, game fixed. D2, I dont think in a month and few days left, will be fixed... is tasteless
-
I disagree. Destiny was not built around pve co-op play. It was advertised that way, but that is not how it actually went down.
-
Both infuriating. D1 was more fun.
-
They should just remove the supers and powers for the most part. They charge so slow and do so little PVE damage why even have them. Might as well go play the division.
-
Destiny 1 v a game that's not released yet? : )
-
Two points hit on the head. Pvp balance destroys the "op"ness that makes the different classes such fun in pve and has been the root of "op" exotics being reduced to legendary levels(in some cases less) Being a badass who could jump in and take out a small army what made the first year such fun. Standing shooting clip after clip at the same guy with a half arsed exotic isn't fun.

D1 started great had so much potential and was super fun to play fast powerful weapons abilities and the likes. But we seen it slowly get worse over time until it was a shell of it's former self. D2 started the way Destiny finished except worse still it looks and feels lackluster slow boring and weak. So if the trend continues God only knows how bad it will be in 6/8/12 month's
-
Edited by XMalakhX: 7/20/2017 3:03:50 PMI don't feel weak at all in D2... Supers may not charge so fast right now, but they are effective. More so than in D1. I know the Titans both, Sentinel and Striker, are a lot better at doing damage in PvE now because of duration. The void titan has an option at an offensive super as well instead of only a bubble.
-
You can barely call d2 a looter shooter.
-
We are powerful....but we move slower than a cabal wielding double meat cleavers on a Sunday after a few brews at the nearby ramen place.
-
Excuse but d1 was mainly pvp... no story or anyhting
-
I will reply to this once we are are able to play destiny 2.

Edited by Tri-Dragon47: 7/21/2017 4:57:49 PMI was kind of bitter to me cuz destiny is lot better than destiny 2. - sniper, gunshot, and fusion is better on second slot than in power heavy on destiny 2. I can use often when i go for boss fights or raids. - playing control. 6vs6 is better than 4vs4. Because I said so. Destiny 2 will be always on SBMM in all modes. That fine with me but trials is different story. Trials is one messing up cuz lags and players willing to cheat through lighthouse. It need change rules to increase chances for players to go lighthouse. I am more heavy favor to CBMM cuz I don't want face enemy with lag bar in other side of world. I know it is beta but I will play destiny 2. If Bungie don't listen us about problem on trials or fix it then it will become trouble with all players.
-
Why do people keep talking about the pve in Destiny like the entire game was built around it? The pve in the original is dogshit. Every major review site said this in their Destiny review. It was objectively shit. Some of you are easily amused.
-
B...E...T...A...
-
This will change because you must be smoking if you think PvE and PvP will not be separate this go around... but then again bungie has failed to include some other things we needed too so who knows.
-
Destiny has always been half and half. Hell, even vanilla exotic quests required PVP to earn them. Not sure what crack you're smoking if you think it's a "new" trend in this game to be split evenly between PVP and PVE focus. It has ALWAYS been a mix of the two.
-
I don't think it's logically fair to compare a beta build of a game to almost 3 years of fluxuating balance and content updates.
-
YOU KNOW NOTHING OF D2'S RNG BECAUSE THE GAME IS NOT OUT YET. YOU HAVE PLAYED A FEW DAYS OF BETA
-
This is an observation and not a criticism.
No this is just salt.

Edited by Swiftlock: 7/20/2017 7:51:04 PMDestiny 1 was Super Smash Brothers Melee - fast and satisfying. Destiny 2 is Super Smash Brothers Brawl - slower and underwhelming.
-
......your character walks through a huge mob of Cabal laying waste to everything it sees with zero effort. How do you not feel powerful? What do you want rights and a cape and the ability to fly?
-
I'm really liking the Beta, haven't played the finished game yet, still 2 months away.
-
D2 is a different game and I'm loving it honestly. Once you can level up, get better weapons and they fix power ammo then PVE will be better. Ppl that always want Destiny but just expanded don't like D2 and I get but that's just the way it is.
