I feel like bungie is leaving behind casual players

I think this is especially prevalent in pvp. I personally prefer the bigger maps and bigger teams. I enjoy being able to run off alone occasionally and not stay completely focused the whole time. Bigger maps and bigger teams makes it much easier to do this since you're not constantly in line of sight of someone or being chased down by a a 3-man gank squad I understand that bungie is trying to make pvp more competitive and try to give D2 more e-sport potential but I don't think it should be done at the expense of casual players. The focus on creating fireteams and joining clans serves to alienate people who don't have the time to dedicate themselves to trying to find a network of players to team up with all the time. I definitely believe that D2 has the potential to become a more serious competitive game but I also think that can be done without alienating the players who aren't intrested in doing that. I don't like being the guy who complains and doesn't suggest a solution, so here's my 2 cents: keep the competitive play list as it is now. It's very well balanced for that kind of gameplay, especially with its focus on mechanic skill with weapons instead of overpowered space magic. However, change the quick play play list to be more in tune with casual play. Maybe have bigger maps and bigger teams, or have an arcade playlist with drastically increased ability/super regen. Make more heavy ammo spawn and give us open spaces for vehicles and big skirmishes with grenades and supers being thrown left and right. TL;DR: keep the competitive playlist hoe it is. It's well balanced and is designed well for a competitive player. However don't make that the only option for players. When the full game releases give players the choice between the small maps and focused gameplay and bigger more open maps that allow players to run around and not constantly feel there is a group of 3 enemies ready to insta-melt them as soon as they turn a corner. Ps. Before anyone starts saying I'm just bad; I usually am near the top of the leader board when I play solo and do even better when I play with a fireteam. I just don't have fun when I'm tense the whole match because I have to play hard to just stay alive. I simply prefer casual gameplay because I play games to relax and have fun.

  • Lol no, D2 is one of the most casualized sequels I have ever seen. The game assumes you cant handle choices and then takes them away from you.

  • What do you mean? D2 is especially made with casuals in mind. That's why everything is dumb down.

  • I think instead of making the game easier so casuals can have a better time playing it, they made it easier for casuals to reach the hard missions. For example, casuals don't have time to grind for a god roll Palindrome, so Bungie made set rolls so casuals can just get the gun and know it will be viable. It puts them on an even playing field against hardcore players (at least gun wise).

So you just want to be able to wander around and fluck off in the middle of a fight? That is not casual, that is just dumb.

          • It's either "PvP is sweaty af, especially quickplay" or "filthy -blam!-ing casuals in my game, gtfo" I agree with what you're saying though. I do feel that casuals are getting a bit left behind. I'm not casual OR sweaty. I'm in the middle of it all. The Teamshooting Meta is SUPER sweaty and it's annoying as hell. Personally, I think all you sweaty tryhards should shut up and leave this thread, this is more leaned towards casuals. (Also, if you're a tryhard, GET OUT OF QUICKPLAY, WE DON'T APPRECIATE YOUR KIND IN OUR QUICKPLAY. IT'S MEANT FOR FUN. STOP TRYING TO RUIN D2 FOR US.)

Fool, they’re bringing in more casuals by making it a team shooting meta and making assists count as kills.

          • I prefer being 3v1 compared to 5v1, which is what usually happens to me in D1... crucible is better so far and I'm on the winning team about 90% of the time up to this point.

          • I don't even own a mic so I consider myself a pretty casual player. I love the new crucible mechanics and I can nearly guarantee you they will add a larger crucible mode in the future. Have faith.

            • I do agree there should be a game type with more players. It'll probably be in the final game, though. This Beta is kinda small, not much content. So secretive, don't want to give too much away. Just the same, the community and their behavior usually make it hard to play casual anyway. At least I'm not on Xbox live anymore.

            • Destiny is a casual game, with the exception of endgame content. I don't understand why they cut out so much of the space magic from a game that was built on a fantasy ideology. Making Destiny more competitive with gunplay was a horrible idea because if I ever feel like playing competitive PvP I can guarantee it'll never be in Destiny, so might as well embrace the abilities and supers since that's what people play Destiny for and that's what makes Destiny unique.

D2 pvp felt more competitive to me and my clan mates but the majority of us are casual pvp players and not very good, I just hope there will be options for pve OR pvp kills in missions for guns/armour or I'll be f ucked and I mean royally! It's good to have a more competitive mode for the harder pvp'ers but not at the expense of the more casual less good ones. Feels more like trials than crucible and trials is something I was never good enough to play sadly.

            • D2 is made for casuals. You share kills In pvp to hide the bad players stats and make me feel special. The loadout is skilled now. Generic character perk trees. Same melee ranges and so on.

              • Really? I feel the opposite. I can't explain it, but there's this very casual "sweatiness" to control, at least. I am impressed and horrified at the same time.
