• I believe that it's possible, but as of right now it has absolutely no effect on my life, so I don't really care.

    • I don't know, really. Both option are, if you really think about it, scary in a way.

    • Almost definitely. With the universe being as large as it is, another form of life is almost guaranteed.

    • I just read 'The Dark Forest, part 2 of a great contemporary sci fi series. It gives a very interesting take on the Fermi paradox. Spoiler for the book below.
All species are forced into hostility by fear of each other; all strikes are pre-emptive. It is safer to maintain silence than to allow other species to know of your existence as they'll assume you could be a threat. So everyone hides.
• The universe is way too big for us to be alone. Thinking we are the only intelligent life in the universe is incredibly arrogant and hubristic.

    • It is statistically improbable that there isn't other advanced life out there. We're merely one planet out of trillions of planets in our galaxy, which revolve around hundreds of billions of stars. To think that we're all alone, and special in any statistical sense, is sheer madness, and human arrogance at its worst.

    • We'd have to be insanely foolish to think we're special enough to be the only intelligent life in the galaxy, let alone the entire universe.

        • It's statistically unlikely, given the size and age of the universe, that we are the only life to exist.

            • Chances are, we aren't alone. In fact its highly likely we aren't alone. But i really doubt anything alive is or will ever be in our reach. There is simply too much space between us and everything else.

Because the universe is theoretically infinite, there is infinite possibilities, and there is bound to be not just another world with life, but an infinite number of worlds exactly like ours with the exact same history

              • Check out Drake Formula for a numbers reference to this question. Of course there is other life out there. But I would reason to say that they face the same problems we do, like interstellar travel. Same universe, same problems.

There may be intelligent life out there, but if it's anything like us it will have destroyed its world once the technology fell into the wrong hands. To explore or destroy? Until we can look past our imaginary "differences" humanity will burn itself into the ground before it ever leave this solar system.

              • This topic is extremely limited in our world right now. The consequences of saying something like this have too big of an affect on life as we know it. "There is, and always has been an extraterrestrial/interdimensional being presence on earth. " Not with how the system is constructed right now. You'd get into simple topics that already dismantle and change the human life as is. What are these vehicles, how are they powered? What is there source of energy? How does it compare to ours? Already you're met with the consequences of unraveling the tight grasp on humans and their current energy sources. If it don't benefit the big dogs, don't expect to have light shed on it. The fact that life exists out there isn't a big deal, but the affect on the big dogs control is. Not to mention, if something like this ever became public, then the questions just grow. Questions by an insatiable audience. Questions I wouldn't even begin to list out here. This topic was huge years back with the truth embargo and disclosure project. Now it's a bit more public, and of course... full of ridicule... regardless of the credentials your source may have even. I used to really follow and research this kinda stuff. There's so much disinformation, propaganda, and blacked out shit when you request documents though. So yea. It's much simpler to just say....hey... we haven't seen jack shit to say anyone or anything has been here... but ... come on man the universe is just so big ...of course there's life out there ... chances of finding life will probably never happen though. So let's just... leave it at that. It can be interesting to discuss.. but much easier to just assume that everyone in the ancient cultures were on magic mushrooms when they wrote about star people, and anyone who even gives that a second thought is just crazy Lol

              • We're likely not the only intelligent life out there but seems more probable there are more life forms like bacteria than humans. I doubt any intelligent life forms like us ever have visited earth or ever will. The universe is just too big and we are so far away from being able to exit the milky way let alone visit another galaxy. Any communications via radio will be hundreds if not thousands of years old due to vast distance it has to travel. We are alone in our little corner.

                  • Life? Yes. Intelligent life? No. Advanced life i.e. animals similar to dogs or birds or reptiles? No. Simple life such as microscopic organisms and bacteria and such? Yes. I believe we as humans are extremely unique the universe much like our Earth is very unique to places in just the right spot in our solar system, so on and so forth. It does make for fascinating discussion though. The contemplation of the vastness of space. Our minds really cannot comprehend such immense distances and the other realities of the universe as we know it.
