GC: Why are there only new sub-classes and not entirely new classes? Surely the fact that you’re resetting everyone to zero gives the perfect opportunity to add to and change things more substantially?
DA: It’s something that’s come up in conversation, but we’ve never really… when we think about the game we look at where do we feel like we have an area to grow? We feel like the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock… there’s still new ways to play those classes that we can explore.
And when you look at the community that exists around the game, up to this point, and you see the attachment that they have to those. You see pictures of people on the Internet who have the logos tattooed on their bodies and you think, ‘This is something that people really have a deep connection to’.
GC: Okay, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t have added more classes, I’m not suggesting you remove the ones you’ve already got.
DA: Like, it’s interesting for me as a player. I could’ve played a Hunter since day one, and whenever I look at some of the new sub-classes I’m like, maybe I should change to a Warlock. And then I have like this weird twinge where I’m like, ‘But I’m a Hunter, I can’t do that!’

Variety in the game would have increased greatly with the inclusion of even just one new class, a new type of Guardian would have been awesome.

I actually agree with Bungie on this one. They already established the three classes and there's still more they can do to flesh them out more. I'm not sure a fourth class would have a place, especially because of the ways they fleshed out the three. The way they design armor is basically more plating to less plating. Titans being the bulkiest, warlock having the least armor, and hunters being in the middle. There are exceptions, but that's the general trend. There's also the whole armor, agility, recovery thing. They ideally connect to each class, so adding a fourth class could create problems with that. I just think it's best as it is now. Three's a good number.
-
We can now play 1 character of each class. 3 characters - 3 classes Yes it is possible to add a new class (not sure how you would make it different from the existing 3) and you could add another character but 4 characters would just be a complete and utter ball-ache. Next point. Continuity of the game. How would you introduce a fourth class? Oh, here's the long lost fourth class that everyone forgot about. He's the pacifist farmer that has just been hanging out in the EDZ for the past few hundred years, doing absolutely nothing. He has special abilities, but just chosen to defend his crops instead of mankind. Just thought I'd also throw in the problems of balance. Bungie hasn't been able to sort that out with 3 classes so far. How do you think they would manage with 4?
-
If they introduce a new class now everyone will pick the same thing much prefer it with 3 subclass's after all cayde-6 is hunter zavalla is titan ikora warlock never gonna introduce new class with our leaders already has the best dialogue the way cayde is a joker zavalla always serious and ikora being the mother figure of them both dont need anothet.

Why are there only 3 classes in Destiny?
-
Why are there only 2 genders?
-
Don't want a new type of guardian. It just wouldn't work well.
-
We don't need another one. We have a hunter which is pretty much the closest to a DPS class using melee and golden gun Titans are a tank class with defender and the shield class ability Warlocks have been a support class with sunsinger reducing allies cool downs and they have a healing rift which supports more
-
Wow that's a alot of horseshxt
-
The warrior is the fastest, the wizard is the tankiest and the rogue can jump the highest. What backwards rpg do we live in
-
There is no for 4th class because bungie wants room for the 3 classes to grow.
-
Because warrior, Mage and rogue. Like every rpg ever.
-
Why would bungie add another class when a majority of the player base doesn't have three characters or roll three of the same characters?

Edited by Ahhsenberg: 6/24/2017 5:05:59 PMTo everyone saying this crap about RPG roles: So... the answer is just to conform to a "rule" rather than push the envelop? Maybe bring something new to the table? I know, I know. It's Bungie/Destiny. They aren't exactly the best at dealing with a lot of balances and what not, but it still is a bit shameful to lean on something like this. Innovation and change creates a lot of great things.
-
Sorry dear, but there is three core RPG classes, Mage, rogue and a warrior. Or tank, dps and support, or wizard, assassin and fighter. There is no class that fits that isn't a amalgamation or variation of the current classes.
-
Edited by BERSEKAEL: 6/25/2017 12:13:11 AMthey can barelly balance 3... more would be chaos, they would have to actually work
-
In all seriousness, they would need to introduce crafting and a player economy to add more. Then we would be our own weapon and armor smiths. Also add animal tamer and bio engineer to make pets. Last would be some type of chemical engineer to make buffs. These could also be added to our current classes as talents or skills. Give us something to be more diverse.
-
That second answer is like its from a politician, he doesn't actually answer the question. Honestly I think it was just laziness, far mor economical to just continue the same shit.
-
I expect that if Bungie could have found a way to work a fourth class into the Destiny lore/universe, they would have done it. And 0.7 seconds after they revealed it, the first post would appear in these forums saying it's not what they wanted.
-
For any Rpg, what class would exist that doesn't have a role covered by the magic, stealth, or brute force classes that are mandatory for the genre?
-
Because destiny is about 3's since the beginning.

almost like it would be perfect for a new game, not an expansion 😬
-
New class, Cryptarch. You defeat enemies by trolling them.
-
No if they added one new class the game would be filled with that one class
