Reordering weapons slots solely for PVP sends the wrong message

This is a topic I see popping up on the threads and peoples take on the reordering of weapons is all over the place. Some love it, some hate it, others are skeptical but optimistic, and basically everything in between. Full disclosure: put myself in the heavily skeptical department. Regardless of your position on whether or not the reordering of weapons is going to be a good thing though, I would like to draw peoples attention to an aspect of this that I think many people are missing - or are otherwise just NOT talking about. And that issue is what kind of message Bungie is sending about the tug of war between PVE and PVP. We've seen it rear its ugly head time and time again over the last two years, and regardless of whether you are PVP oriented or PVE oriented, I think the consensus is that we just want the two modes to be separate so that we don't have to deal with crossover issues. Enter the reordering of weapon slots. This was CLEARLY a decision made solely for PVP in order to remove power weapons from play. It was a decision made, it would seem, without a lot of thought given to how PVE players will receive it. And therein lies the issue. Even if we get fully separated sandboxes for PVE and PVP - which until the patches start flying out is nothing more than a rumor - , by keeping a unified loadout across both modes, PVE already starts out of the gate as having been negatively effected for the sake of PVP. IMO, this sends the wrong message at a time Bungie ought to be trying to show they are trying to further separate the two to prevent crossover issues. Keeping a unified loadout system across the board also keeps alive the fact that they could possibly continue the nerf-fest that we have seen the last 2+ years which has negatively impacted PVE. The bottom line here is that the more commonality PVE and PVP have, the higher the risk is that there will be crossover changes. Regardless of how you view the new loadout system, I think Bungie missed a great opportunity to emphatically show that they don't want to have the same issues that have plagued the game the previous 2+ years - by eliminating as much of the commonality between the two as they can. After all, if separate sandboxes for PVE and PVP come to fruition, why do we also need a unified loadout screen? IMO, it would just send a clear cut, unmistakable message that the two are separated if they just came out and said "we're going to separate the loadouts and sandboxes so we can minimize crossover issues." Instead, as I have stated before, PVE will start off from a position of having been impacted by a choice clearly made for PVP. Even if the new loadout system works out well, I think they clearly missed an opportunity here.
