A Guardian's Burden Part 2: Through Eyes of Iron

I couldn't remember, couldn't remember anything, but the pain. The pain...it was excruciating. Even when it was gone, I felt it, dull, throbbing, all but gone. Then, I was somewhere else, not on the Dreadnaught. I was fighting streams of tiny...microbots. Swarm after swarm, they kept coming. I grew weary, and my arms became leaden, my legs made of sludge, my will to fight turning to nothing. Another swarm went for me, but this time, faster than a blink of an eye, it darted away from my bullets, swirled around my head, and slammed into me, in one swift movement. My armor, it became the microbots, spreading like the plague. Then, I saw my allies, fighting their own swarms. One of them, was wiping them out, unrelenting. I walked over to him, and then, against my will, I smote him over the head. "Jolder, no, Jolder, don't let SIVA corrupt you! This isn't you, you would never do this to me, nev-!" That was his last word,* and no one would hear from him ever again. His name, etched on his breastplate: Radegast. "Radegast, I'm so, so sorry..." I couldn't stand it any longer. I had to destroy this 'SIVA,' once and for all. I ran to the door, torn between good and evil. When I reached the door, I saw him, the man I didn't know, except he wielded a double headed battle axe, which was wreathed in flames. The swarms, they were burnt in an instant, vanishing as if it was magic. He looked at me- And I started to close the door. He screamed something indiscernible, and he charged me. I knew then, I knew for certain, that he must survive, and be the only one. As he neared me, and the doors almost closed, I pulled something out of my greaves. A black cylinder with a red dot on top. I looked at the man, for the last time ever, and pushed the button. Then, I wasn't this so called, 'Jolder.' I was behind her, without body, without physical form. The door closed I turned around, and saw the flames rapidly closing in. I tried to scream, move, anything, but nothing happened. As the flames reached me, my world was dark once again. • • • Mantis knew something was wrong when the unknown guardian screamed in pain. "Why won't he wake up?! Why won't he wake up?!" "I don't know, you tell me, you're the God damn Warlock! Don't you know medical procedures?!" "You, are not helping one bit you exo-asshole!" "Get over my harsh methods and DO SOME WARLOCK HEALING BULLS**T!!!" Typhoon sat back and watched, holding in his laughter, his tiny chassis shaking with mirth. I wish I had popcorn. Then again, I don't have a mouth, or a stomach... After much more bickering between Mantis-6 and Gavin, Typhoon decided to do something. "Ok, make way for a professional, I know what I'm doing." "Oh, shut your f***ing mouth, Dinklebot!" Mantis barks. "Watch your profanity Mantis. I can revive you with a deformed head. Do you want that?" "Get on with it," Mantis grumbles, "Every time a ghost doesn't like what I say, they do something mean. Do they care? No, they can't reform themselves!" Mantis skulked off into a corner. "Please," Gavin begs, "make him wake up, please Typhoon!" "Give me some time, ok? Alright, we stimulate some melatonin here, inject some caffeine there, more scienecy stuff to make me seem smart, and presto! He'll be waking up soon, give him time," Typhoon declared proudly. • • • I woke up, gasping for air, and screaming all the while. "What...the hell...just...happened?" I rattle out between breaths. "Long story short, you screamed, fell on the floor, and Typhoon woke you up," Gavin says, oddly happy. "Well, if we could resume our main goal, which is getting our weapons, and getting out of this place, that would be nice of you 'young whippersnappers,' " Mantis grinds out. "Alright, well, lets go then!" I say, all too eager to get away from this God forsaken place. Gavin sidled up to me. "What were you dreaming of? You kept yelling gibberish, and then started thrashing around. I think we really need to know." I smirk. "I'll tell you, once we get our weapons, and kill things." A grin slowly appears on Gavin's face. "Ditto," he laughs. We're gonna have some good times together.
*Gun pun not intended.
