Cassie led me through the winding alleys to Jedesia's home. Suddenly three ships flew overhead. They began broadcasting a message over the loudspeaker. "Alert. A rogue guardian is on the loose. If spotted alert the authorities immediately." Cassie looked at me. "Just go!" I said frantically. I ran down the street following Cassie. Suddenly a searchlight scorched the road right in front of me. I dove to the side just as the beam passed. I sighed in relief. Cassie led me through City dodging searchlights as we made our way to Jedesia's house. Cassie opened the door and I rushed in just as troop of titans ran by. I set Jedesia down on the couch, and turned to Cassie. "I'm sorry about all of this." I said. She looked at me in shock. "How could you? They were Ghosts! Living, sentient people!" she said. "I didn't have a choice!" I said angrily. "Everyone has a choice." she said. "Well I don't get a choice. Not when your with the re..." I stopped. "When your with the what?" Cassie asked suspiciously. "Nothing." I said. "Your a terrible liar. And I heard that guardian you killed. He said you weren't a guardian. He knew you from somewhere. So, you want to explain?" "Not really." I said. "Alright, I'll just let the authorities know your here." she said. "No, wait!" I said frantically. She looked at me. "Well?" My mind worked overtime. Which would Galon be more mad about, giving away my identity or compromising the mission? "Your right. I'm not a guardian. I'm part of the resistance against the guardians." "Sooo... How do you have light powers?" she asked. "Well, I kinda stole them from a guardian." I said sheepishly. "YOU WHAT?!!" Cassie asked in shock. "Shhhh! Yes I stole them. But we needed them and guardians have always abused their powers. He didn't deserve them." "That's not your call to make!" Cassie said. Jedesia groaned. "Don't tell her any of this." I whispered. I rushed over to the couch. "Are you alright?" I asked. "I think so. Where are we?" "I brought you home." I said. "Jaden is part of the resistance against guardians. He's not a real guardian. He stole his powers from another guardian." Cassie said. "CASSIE!!" I yelled. "And he killed those guardians and their ghosts back at the bar." I glared at her. "What?" Jedesia asked. Suddenly there was a pounding on the door. "Open up! Open up in the name of the Concordat!" "I've got to get out of here!" I said. Jedesia got to her feet shakily. "I'm coming." she said. "No. I'm the only one implicated in the crime. If you come you will be a target as well." "She's already a target." Hex said, appearing at my shoulder. "What?" I asked. "Just being near you has put a target on her. They'll kill her even if she didn't come." Hex said. "The safest place for her is with you." Cassie said. "alright, fine. Stay close and don't get lost." I said. I dashed through the kitchen and out the back door. "Hex, get us to a safe distance." I said. Hex flew forward and led us into night.
