I watched your stream, and I witnessed the in-game implementation of clans, and something that resembles an in-game matchmaking/LFG hybrid known as "guided games". On paper, it looks like a sound method for people to jump into an activity without having a matchmaking component, so good effort I guess....
But it displays your lack of understanding your own LFG section of this site. Do you guys see what 99% of the posts are?
Need 1 for [INSERT RAID HERE]
Must be 400 LL
Must have gjallarhorn with over 5k confirmed kills
Must have [INSERT SPECIFIED RAID EMLBLEM]
Must have completed the raid [INSERT RIDULCOUSLY HIGH NUMBER HERE] times - AND I WILL CHECK
The overarching theme you see in the LFG section is simple: people not willing to carry new players/people who have never done the activity. So my question is how the hell is the guided games program suppose to work when this community is already an elitist shithole?

Its like when your kid swallows a half dozen quarters. You have to wade through a lot of shit.

People are allowed to ask for what they want to make their run as painless as possible. So instead of looking for a carry, start your own group and ask for what you want. You can't expect experienced raiders to drag you through a raid if they don't want to, that's an elitist attitude as well.

I just went and checked the top 10 postings available in this weeks Crota's end challenge. 7 asked for experience 3 asked for you to be 400 light 1 asked for you to be 395+ light 2 asked for good sword bearers 2 asked for class specific people to fill out FT 1 preferred if you had the emblem. These posts are no where close to the representation you've fabricated for us. In the top 10 none asked for gear specifics and only 1 PREFERRED if you had the emblem. Not even remotely close to the 99%'of posts demanding the perfect players you spun for us. To me it seems like you have a personal chip on your shoulder or experience that doesn't come close to resembling the majority of posts in recruitment. Additionally, and this is life advice, if you are going to associate your argument with statistics, those statistics better be 100% accurate. Otherwise the falsehood of your numbers completely undermines and take away the validity of anything you have to say. Have a great day guardian.

There is a simple way to make guided games work better. Bungie needs to offer rewards to the players of the guiding team. Like 1 guaranteed legendary item that week, similar to a quest reward. Or maybe even 2 per week. This way the elitists would have an incentive to invite and "guide" those in need of guidance, instead of only looking for players who are already pro. Risk vs reward. It's one of the fundamental elements of good game development. But Bungie probably won't do it.

Why not just use match making....why put in all this effort for guided games when match making is right there. If you have a group then it wont effect you. If you dont have a group you get paired with people. Why content block? 50 percent of their own community didnt complete a raid.

My clan will always take new players through a raid or activity so long as they are truthful with us and listen. What we hate however is solo players joining us and saying "yeah I know what to do" and then causing 7 wipes before admitting they haven't done the raid. If you post in lfg " I'm new can anyone help" you will find a fireteam! People see the bad in lfg before they see the many posts on newbie runs etc. If you look hard enough there are some real chill people on lfg and clans are probably the chilliest if you get a good one so guided games will be a great addition!

I think there are some clans that will be like that, but I also know there are other clans that are more than willing to walk people through the raids as sherpas. There will be clans that will have these rules for people entering their guided game, but as long as they are up front with these "necessities" then the new user should understand they are not welcome and keep looking. We'll just have to wait and see how it gets implemented. But I think this is better than nothing, so I am currently excited.

Did you hear the crowd when they announced this though?? Pure 😂. Im saying to myself...are these guys clapping on que like a live studio audience during a sitcom taping? 3 more years of filling out life insurance papers and giving dna samples just to do some hardly difficult activity in rated T for teen Destiny? Im good bungie bros. Ingame bungie sponsored lfg is not matchmaking in the slightest.

If it works gr8 if not the100 ;)

Most LFG teams of 5 already in a raid are looking for that one person who can run relic or sword or whatever because nobody on their team can not that one person they can carry/teach. (or they would have been done already before whoever on their 6 man team rage quit and made it a 5 man team). Hopefully guided games just evolves into a decent in game LFG system and will act just like a more convenient version of current LFG sites (With all their benefits and problems but less inconvenience). Also Bungie should concentrate more on bribing players than altruistic reasons. If everyone got an extra drop at each boss for each raid newbie in the team who was not max light (or drops even if they'd completed the raid that week) you'd see LFG posts like "Guardians wanted. Must be less than 400 light. Must have no raid completions. People with raid emblems need not apply. I will check."

There are those of us, and we may be the minority, that really like the guided games idea because we do Sherpa's on a regular basis. Honestly I feel like this will make it easier for those of us who want to Sherpa and guide new players through activities and teach them the basics. I do understand that a lot of clans will probably use this as a recruitment tool and that's completely fine. I feel like that will help match the right people with the right clan. I'll happily stay in the minority on this because I have more fun teaching new players activities they've never completed before, than quick runs with experienced players.

1. No reason to think LFG won't still be around, either here on bnet, the100, or elsewhere. Those elitist teams can still spread their arrogance there. 2. I'd imagine anyone using Guided Games would do so with the understanding that your future teammates will be a box of chocolates.

Implementing clans is not for us casuals. It's to add a more competitive feel. So clans have bragging rights. It will help their Twitch/Youtube channels. Silly.
-
Yeah last night my buddy was saying he thinks it'll be super toxic. Teams of 5 looking for a fast run, getting someone not up to their standards......
-
Man, you nailed it with that last sentence. People used to be willing, but it seems those people got tired of the bs and went elsewhere. Add the anonymity of the internet and people turn into obnoxious children whose parents obviously forgot to teach manners and basic respect for others. Another reason LFG sucks - the chances of finding a team without at least one a-hole in it are slim to nil.
-
I agree this isn't going to help their numbers when it comes to nobody doing raids like in D2. There's a lot of reasons nobody is doing the raids and only part of it is finding other people.
-
I gave up doing raids in D1 because of trying to navigate lfg. I wasn't going to get D2 because of it but my son has already pre ordered it for me. I hope that you guys enjoy doing raids but trying to use lfg to find 5 others is not for me.
-
So what do you suggest?
-
You are right but now as a clan you can post versus before you could not Clans were poorly supported before so we will see
-
I might be wrong on this, but there is still going to be the normal lfg. So those types of people can still ask for outrageous qualifications. The guided games will mainly be for those who are willing to take the time to run newbies through.

And why not make it easier to match the people who don't mind carrying with those who need to be carried or sherpa'd?
-
As I said in a thread I created - The solution is quite simple. I would be shocked if its not been suggested. there are just a few things if implemented would make the game accessible to everybody. 1. implement full matchmaking. This guided approach is not going to work .People in mass are still not going to help lower tier players. Sure there will be some. But how many clans will I need to join every single time I want to play a raid? After the third boot, I will be DONE. Period. I like many others don't have time for kids acting like kids and bullies. 2. Break the raids up into smaller raids. Raids should not take hours. No raid should take longer than an hour. There is literally no reason why they can't be broken up into smaller sections. 3. Have different difficulty levels instead of the ridiculous single Hardest difficulty that is being used. the puzzles can be adjusted based on difficulty. The number and skill of enemies can be adjusted. the requirement for teamwork can be adjusted based on difficulty. There is no reason why this can't happen. There can still be the hardest difficulty for those that want it that requires the best teamwork and the best weapons. Call it insane or legendary or mythical difficulty. Doing that still gives the hardcore players the challenge they enjoy. for example of 3 players have to stand in a given spot for X amount of time either reduce the time or make it like domination except once they "capture" the area it stays captured. That's just one simple example but you get the point. TEACHING PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED. Carrying people should not ben necessary. There is not a single raid in currently or coming that can't be adjusted according to difficulty.
-
I'm just going to start my clan of one and get 5 randoms to join me.
-
What this post tells me is that the OP is too dumb to realize that the recruitment forum will still be a thing and such posts will be handled there. Guided games is more or less a group volunteer sherpa team.
-
Because if it helps at least one person, it's already worth it. Sorry that plenty of people like myself don't have the time to backpack inexperienced players through content. When I have the time to raid, I want to raid, not teach. I APPLAUD those who do have the time to help and use it to teach. That's great. Not bashing those kind people by any means. I just don't see how you can, with a sane mind, expect Bungie to somehow police peoples requirements for joining their fireteam. That will NEVER happen because it is literally impossible. You can't expect people to help you just because you need help. At least Bungie is trying to provide a service that could help some people, even if it doesn't end up helping you in particular.

Quick question: Why are better players expected to spend their time carrying newbies?
