I'm a 14 year old boy and I'm not fat. I only weigh 77 pounds. I play tennis as my sport so I'm staying fit. I don't get this but why are there so many fat gamers?

You're going off your schema, not facts.

I work in a lumber yard all day and weigh 285, look like I weigh 230 and game for hours on end every single day. "Fat" used in the way you use it implies most gamers do nothing. But let me tell you now son, it's healthier to have some fat than near to none at all. Honestly you're going off of stereotypes and assuming most gamers are fat, there's heavy and there's lazy. Some can't help it and some are like me, 6 foot 4 inches tall, coming in at 230-290 and still physically fit. However most gamers I've met are proactive in their daily routines and relax with video games. Truth is, the gaming community as a whole is just as diverse and varied as any other community, going off of a half baked stereotype about gamers, and asking other gamers, you included, is an insult to our collective intelligence and an insult to yourself. Sweden isn't all beautiful and horny women, India isn't all anorexic snake charmers and diarrhea, and all gamers aren't all fat 40 year old virgins living in mom's basement. Like all communities there are fanatics giving the rest of us a bad name and it up to the rest of us to prove the fanatics wrong, starting with the education of others with no or little information about actual gamers, including the younger generations of gamers. We are family and family don't end in blood son, nor does it start with a last name. We love gaming and though we give each other crap we are more connected and loving ,despite our diversity, than the greater portion of the world. We are a nation without borders, we are truly living the dream together.
77 pounds
Jesus Christ, eat like 10 big macs before you end up getting crushed to death by a sheet of construction paper.

Using forums as a 14 year old? Really? Btw, fat gamers lead sedentary lives. When they are not gaming, they are eating, or working at a place that doesn't require much physical exertion. If your hobby has you sitting in a chair for hours, then you need to get up and move around at some other point in your day. If you don't, you will get fat. This isn't exclusive to gamers, since watching TV has the same effect.
I'm a 14 year old boy and I'm not fat. I only weigh 77 pounds.
I'm sorry I don't really know the average weight of a 14 year old but when I was 14 I think I weighed around 90 pounds
I'm currently 20 and I have an average weight and I've played games most of my life. The whole "gamers are fat" thing is basically a stereotype
Did you just assume my physical fitness?

Where's your data to back this claim up? Most gamers I've meet or know are not fat
-
You are the biggest piece of crap I've seen. Gamers being fat is the dumbest stereotype I've ever seen. Sure, there are fat gamers, but who cares? There are fat people in every community. I'm a gamer myself, and I'm not fat. I'm also a high ranked MMA Fighter. What the -blam!- is your point?

The medical term is Cheetos Syndrome.
-
14 years old? You probably shouldn't be here.
-
Are they?
-
I'm not fat either... Why would anyone be fat playing games?

Edited by HalfAssedMule: 5/27/2017 12:03:34 AMRound is a shape, beanpole...not so much.

It's spelled P-H-A-T! Cuz we're cool!

Edited by Spitzenhund4444: 5/20/2017 2:08:56 PMBecause they would rather game and eat than exercise. Trust me, I used to be this guy. In 6th grade I was 4' 10", 180 lbs and spent at least 6 hours a day gaming with 18 hours per day on the weekends. In sophomore year I realized my problem, and now (graduated high school) I am 5' 9", 160 lbs. Now I exercise during every loading screen as well as an actual workout every other day. And guess what, I still play video games for about 6 hours a day and 18 hours on the weekends.

... I don't think 77 lbs is "fit".....
"sarcasm"
Well you definitely triggered a bunch of people. So are gamers fat? Maybe not. Are they overly sensitive? Absolutely.

The average gamer:
-
It's the same reason so many of the youth today are overweight, it's the parents fault along with uncle Mc Donald's and his supersize me combo. But joking aside we have too much fast food and high fat foods as opposed to healthy cooking, gamers are not fat by nature but by the fact it's easy to order out then cook a meal.
-
Honestly I picture the average to be a healthy weight but individuals heavily grouped on either extreme. You have the skinny twigs like yourself and the fat neck beards... it's a balance
Really tho we are all just normal people
-
Where is that coming from? A lot of us stay fit. Including me.
-
Hey, you can call us whatever you want. Just don't call us late for dinner.
-
You're 77 pounds ._. you're a twig.
-
The thing is most gamers aren't fat- it's just a stereotype
