Hello Bungie Community!
This thread is an updated thread to bungie.net general questions and purposes. The original thread was first created in 2011 and then again in 2013. This is the most current (2020) version.

What is a Group?[/b] Groups are a place to create your own unique forum, which you create the rules (as long as they fall within the [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en-US/View/bungie/conduct]Code of Conduct[/url][/u]). You can assign the staff members as you see fit, restrict membership, self-moderate in the group, run contests, and create news stories. You can have as many members as you like (some Groups on the website have 100,000 members, Good luck!). In short, you're building your own part of the Bungie community! [b]1.2 How do I create a Group?[/b] To create a group, just go to [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Groups/MyGroups]Groups[/url][/u] under the Community menu. Here you will find other groups from the site and you'll have the option to create one. In the center of the page you'll see a button that says [u]Create Group/Clan[/u]. Click that and get started by choosing a name, description, and member acceptance settings and you'll be the proud owner of a brand new Bungie.net group! [b]1.3 Where can I find Groups that I may be interested in?[/b] The main way to find groups is by clicking [u][url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Groups/MyGroups]Groups[/url][/u] under the Community menu of Bungie.net in the top-left part of your screen. Also if you roam the public forums and find a user you like, you could check that person's [u]Membership[/u] in their profile and see if you'd be interested in any of the groups that person is in. You can even use the search bar if you know the name of a certain group. Finally, keep an eye on Clan Recruitment or in the forums for posts from private groups. [b]1.4 How do I join a Group?[/b] To join a Group, first go to that Group's homepage. From there, look towards the top right-hand side of the screen and click the [u]Request Join[/u] button. Note: If the group leader has the group set to 'Requires Approval' you will not be able to view or post in the Group until the administration of that group approves you. [b]1.5 Why won’t it let me create a Group / Join anymore Groups?[/b] There is a limit of 50 Groups at a time a user can belong to. You'll be unable to join more groups or create more groups until you leave a group once you have reached the limit. [b]1.6 How do I cancel my request to join a Group?[/b] If you wish to cancel the request to join a group, you need to go to the groups homepage, click [u]Interact[/u] and under User Actions click [u]Cancel Pending Request[/u]. [b]1.7 How do I leave a Group?[/b] Head to your Profile by going to the top left-hand side of the page and hovering over your Display Name, click [u]Profile[/u]. From there, select [u]Membership[/u] in the top center of the screen. Now click the Group name, now that you are on the selected groups homepage, click [u]Interact[/u] and under User Actions click [u]Leave[/u] Note: Leaving the group does not remove you from the clan, If you want to leave the Clan too, you must click [u]Remove Account from Clan[/u] before clicking [u]Leave[/u]. [b]1.8 How do I Delete a Group?[/b] To delete a group you must leave as the last member. If you are not the last member and you leave, the Founder status will be passed on to an Admin. If you wish to delete a group with members, you must first individually kick all members of the group and then leave the group yourself.
