In this video I talk about E3 2017 & speculate about if Sony announced a PS4 Pro exclusive game...
Would that make PS4 Pro, "PS5?"
Please, enjoy! (:

As a former supporter of Xbox and now a proud supporter of Sony, I say no. That is one of the most stupid ideas I've ever heard. The PS4 Pro is still considered as a PS4

Edited by FrostD: 5/9/2017 3:56:30 AMThis is exactly why i didnt buy a Pro. I dont know, or care, what is true 4k or not. What matters is if games will be specifically designed to take advantage of wherever upgrades the Pro or any other new machine has. But that will not happen anytime soon. The XB1 and PS4 market is too big. Games will have to be compatible with that market. Plus 4k is still in early development, infancy really. Once it matures, stabilizes, then there may by Pro and Scorpio Exclusives.

No that'd be the stupidest thing Sony could do. Just go ahead and alienate the vast majority of your player base right before Microsoft drops the Scorpio, not a good idea.
-
Why's this even a question? Of course not, that'd just be Sony alienating their player base which would probably make them lose money.
-
No. The PS4 Pro is still a PS4. Its just a PS4 with a more powerful graphics card and a faster processor than the OG PS4. What console gamers need to realize is that the console makers are moving more towards how things work in the world of PC gaming. That you aren't going to have massive "generational" changes in consoles anymore. What you're going to get is every few years there are going to be incremental changes in power and capability of your machines. You can choose to upgrade or not. But the quality of the gaming experience you have, will be determined----in part----by the power of the rig you're running. The issue is that we've reached a point of diminishing returns with regard to computing power. Even if you DOUBLE the power of current machines, that isn't going to translate into enough of a difference in the gaming experience to warrant a generational change.

Edited by DarkMythos: 5/9/2017 12:28:53 PMEventually, most likely. I know for a fact this will happen with Microsoft's Project Scorpio down the line as well
-
2 RepliesThere will never be. There isn't a big enough upgrade from the PS4 to the Pro for there to be. The PS4 Pro is still a PS4. The Scorpio is powerful enough to play a game that the Xbox One potentially couldn't and is not permanently tied to the Xbox One. Generational releases vs non generational releases.
-
2 RepliesNo, but they should allow the pro to perform to its highest capabilities. Allowing the PS4 to hold it back is a stupid move by Sony, and makes the pro worthless in my eyes
-
1 ReplyIf they did, it would piss people who just got normal PS4s off. Hey, all games on PS4 Pro can be played on the original. Except for this one, -blam!- you. It's going to happen eventually though, same with Scorpio. One game will be just too much for the originals.
-
2 RepliesNo. Just like Scorpio won't. Both consoles are going to do away with generations anyway. Hardware will get better but games will play on all forms.
-
There wont be because the Pro wont outnumber the ps4. That's why there wasn't any in the begining when it released, and also why there wont be any for scorpio. The two were sold as ps4/xbo upgrades and not as as the next gen console.
-
No because this isn't a new gen. It's not much more powerful than the regular PS4 so it wouldn't make sense to do that. Would be a really stupid move

Edited by xI Scion Ix: 5/8/2017 4:16:44 PMAllowing them to make a variant of the PS4 and then lock games behind the upgrade I feel would set a terrible precedent as they would then to make incremental upgrades to the hardware and then start selling those, locking more games onto them, to force you to buy the upgrade. Kinda like how everyone buying a bunch of loot boxes showed them that people are OK with spending money on a small chance of getting a new weapon that you normally could have just earned in the game. or the best one yet, Destiny "rewarding" you with a code that will "allow" you to buy a shirt from them for real money..... the fact people are actually taking advantage of that scares me for what this may do for other games in terms of microtransactions

I think this would be a bad idea Imagine the arguments for console exclusive titles or dlc But instead of xbox vs ps4, its ps4 vs ps4 The community would be fighting itself even more Unless it could also run on lower quality on a normal ps4, but then its not pro exclusive
-
No, that's a terrible idea. It would alienate most of their fanbase. If they introduced a PS5 and had exclusive games for that, then it's fair enough. But having exclusive games for half a generation jump would piss a lot of people off.

Bump, anyone? (:
