Yup, though they fragmented their own playerbase across multiple versions of the game which in my opinion is asking for death in an MMORPG. Too many worlds are just like empty because they don't bother reducing the total number to make players more concentrated.
Probably the most interesting part of it is that Old School (rolled back to Runescape 2 circa 2007) is actually doing as well or better than the base game on player counts. Last night, for example (was doing research because me and a PSN friend wanted to get two others to try it) normal RS had around 30k players while Old School was at 50k. Of course, nothing like the numbers they used to get but still pretty damn good and Old School is just as enjoyable as it used to be.
