Elimination as a game type is fine, but Trials of Osiris puts to much emphasis on win streak. Win streak has too much to do with getting lucky match ups and using a Boon of Mercy to be a legitimate show of crucible prowess, which is what Trials of Osiris is supposed to be all about. On top of that is the fact that it alienates those who play Destiny and don't have any skilled friends who play regularly, which forces them to use the Recruitment page to find teammates (which is basically a selective form of matchmaking anyway, so it defeats the purpose of having no matchmaking for Trials, and is yet another flaw).
Nowadays, with Iron Banner being a major thing, Trials of Osiris' fit is at best obscure and at worst completely useless. It's basically a no rep, always elimination form of Iron Banner. All you get for completing the card flawless is an emblem that shows "I completed a perfect card." Even the Lighthouse itself is a useless social space, because it isn't a real social space. It's an empty space with nothing to do other than to collect your one weekly chest.
The Lighthouse itself should have vendors and be a true social space where you can get a set of endgame/high light level quests/missions/bounties etc. It should be something you do last to prove you are at the summit. The weekly raid should be associated with it. It should be the true endgame faction that you unlock through some weekly feat.
Maybe have a second version of Crucible with Level Advantages for all PvP game modes that's associated with Osiris? Maybe make Trials of Osiris a side story/faction associated with a story line just like you have done with Iron Banner and Rise of Iron? I'm just throwing ideas out there.
At the end of the day, Trials just doesn't have a good place as it stands. It's only unique feature is the card to track win streak and earn the Lighthouse chest. Other than that it doesn't stand out as something I want to play any more. If I want to play elimination, I go to the elimination playlist. If I want to play with Level Advantages I just wait for Iron Banner to roll around. I could care less about the gear or bounties associated with Trials in it's current state.

----- Lord Saladin (Level Advantages On)
-- Vanguard & Crucible
----- Disciples of Osiris (sub Humanity group)
----- The Awoken (or whatever replaces Queen's Wrath/House of Judgement)

Exo Stranger led faction coming in D2)
