Petition to make an In-game LFG for Destiny 2

Add an in-game LFG system

Don't add an in-game LFG system

Hello fellow guardians, So recently I have been hearing that very few individuals in the overall community are actually completing raids on a regular basis (or even at all!). I don't know the specific stats of actual hard mode completions for the whole community, but I'm going to say that its under 25% of the community. I think a big issue with this is not having an In-game LFG system. Sure, mostly all raiders know about DestinyLFG.net or 100.io, but there must be a ton of people out there who have no idea about these third party websites. And sometimes these websites can be very toxic to say the least. I recommend that for Destiny 2 that we have an In-game LFG system! Now along with this In-game LFG system it would include a place to access it in a social space. Such as a message board or some place where guardians can post what they are looking for and others can ask to join their fireteam. This place would be open to individuals who are within the recommended light (if light level is still a thing in D2) and also who have done at least some of the story missions. I would say the In-game LFG would not have a place to type anything (for fear of negative use of the message board), but instead just have things that the fireteam leader is looking for. Such as say you want 5 people for Vog, two titans, a warlock, and two hunters. You would then head to the message board and first state the minimum light requirement (395), and then click on how many titans/hunters/warlocks you need. You could even then add in that your looking for experienced/professional/or brand new to raiding. You could even say you need two professional titans, two experienced warlocks and a brand new hunter. This would make the In-game system friendly for both really good players or ones who are somewhat new. To solve the issue of a brand new player saying that they are a professional is a small ranking system would be set in place. Such as a brand new player would have 0 raid completions. This would make it so he cannot request someone who is looking for an experienced player. An experienced player would have to have at least 2 completions of the raid they are looking to do. A professional player would have to have at least 10 raid completions to have that title. Also, if a player is a brand new player, they cannot list that they want professionals. (basically you have to earn the title before you can request it). I think this would allow a lot more players to enter the raiding experience and grow relationships within the community! NOTE: Before anyone starts yelling about how bad this idea is remember to have an open mind. I would love to hear your ideas and suggestions on to how to make Destiny 2 better for the community! Also I wanna clarify that Players would still be able to do a raid by merely joining another persons fireteam no matter what experience they are. But to use the message board there are certain requirements. I wanted to state that this is a very basic idea of what I'm thinking so PLEASE feel free to suggest any changes to my idea and I will make sure to edit my post to use that idea. EDIT: I see a lot of people saying that Xbox LFG works fine for destiny raids. And I am inclined to agree. However, I am saying that we should add an in-game LFG because not a lot of people even know about the Xbox LFG and bungie cannot promote it due to it not being their company. I think that an in-game LFG would not only be convienent but would also encourage players to complete the raids and bump up the amount of raid completions. Thus making the community grow and more players to play with during raids. Xbox LFG is great, but like I said, it's a third party app which players have to go searching for instead of the game promoting it. And no I don't want to hear anyone say that those who "play a lot" are the only ones who should know about raiding and LFG. I met a man in patrol once who had never heard of a raid or LFG but he had over 500 hours logged in the game. When I asked him how he spent that time he replied, "crucible, strikes, and story missions." I have now raided with this man many times and he loves it. I think adding an in-game LFG would be a great way to share the fun of raiding with the whole community, not just the top 25%.

  • It would be nice to be able to make a lobby for people to join but u can set requirements like must have completed raid and the game won't let them join the lobby unless you have actually completed it

    • I would love to see a a LFG system in a social space I kinda image it like a bounty board in a pub/bar kinda like in fairy tail but it will allow you to set requirements to join like light level. Think of it like a advert that shows the activity how many people needed and what's required To join and can be seen by any player easily using a in-game terminal to access a LFG network. I'd be happy with them just implementing or integrating something like the Xbox LFG system but make it easier to access since some people still don't know that exists.

    • You know how you get a blue flame after the Nightfall? Yeah, something like that. Maybe a small icon next to your name or a colored hue around your guardian. If the icon is a crucible icon or your gardian has a red hue around him, he's looking for crucible team mates. If the icon is an eye or he has a yellow hue, he's looking for Trials players. When you inspect that guardian, you can see the message he wrote detailing what he's looking for. It would make social spaces more relevant than ever. I think that would be cool and simple to notice. Or they could make something like a message board, like the one behind the bounty bot. You go in and browse LFG messages. If one interests you, you can sign up and the guardian that made it can quickly browse through, having acces to your player details. It's similar to what b.net has right now, but it would be in-game.

I like the idea of an LFG type of system that's accessible through the social space, but matchmaking for raid activities, which most people are requesting, just wouldn't work in my opinion. The best comparison would be how terrible it is to use matchmaking in GTA V for "Heists" or anything that requires communication and team work. If you've ever tried utilizing matchmaking for "Heists" you know what I'm talking about. You sit 10 minutes waiting for a group and as soon as you fail, or maybe before you even start the heist, someone backs out and your group is sent back to matchmaking to begin the process over again. This can go on for hours before completing a single Heist. Matchmaking works wonders for most events in GTA V, just like in Destiny, but some activities require more organization than "matchmaking" can really offer. The easier they make it for us to interact and play together as a community the better it is for all of us, but people are always going to curate the best player experience they can for themselves, that's why forums, LFG sites, discord, clans, etc...are so useful and popular.

        • Dude a raid ranking system would be cool so instead of ppl posting must have xxxxx and must be XXX light we can have requires rank x Also what do you guys think about players being able to issue bounties to other players. Example hire someone to help with raid.

Idk if PS4 is the same, but xbone has this thing called "gamehub" for games, where gamers can make lfg post. But, yea. Ingame lfg is pretty convenient.

          • at this point its not an option, its mandatory, and an enormous oversight from the very start. How they chose to exclude this is beyond reasoning.

          • Who knows what they have in store for us in D2! However, I think all Bungie need to do is reference the companion app in game, around social spaces. When I started Destiny in year 1, I was completely oblivious to the app, because there wasn't really any focus on it. In social spaces, maybe there could be an lfg kiosk listing the first 5 entries of each event pulled from the companion app, and then a prompt to download the relevant app for your device to view more. A title above a players head in a social space; 'lfg 4 Gary raid'. Lots of possibilities without having to bog down the game with a system that already exists outside of it. Just my opinion though 🙂

          • I would really want a lfg then just random matchmake. Or maybe a mix of both. If bungie can find a way to implement a feature that only match you with people that have a mic on and connected, that would be great. Or have a system that you can pick from a few checklist for specific things like mic or a Titan or something. Not just entirely random.

          • Good god! If they implement a system like this or Matchnaking I will buy D2 only after I see the direction they will head with this one. Maybe a year after its release.

I would honestly want in game matchmaking, only to see how it would preform. I'm not against something that has potential to bring people together and do Raids. Probably the best experience I've ever had with video games was raiding. My personal opinion, I doubt it would succeed. It would be exactly like what we have today. Except more time convenient.

I don't think an in game lfg will solve much. The majority of people who aren't raiding aren't doing so because they don't have experience, not because they don't feel like taking out their phone or laptop to find a group. There are not enough people willing to run with noobs in this community. It's been this way for years which is why the number of people who have completed a raid has always been ridiculously low. Sure there are kind people who sherpa and are willing to run with compete noobs, but they are the minority in my experience. I'm in no way saying that it's wrong to not want to sherpa, I get that most people just want to get it done which is perfectly understandable. But what this does is it alienates a lot of people from ever getting to practice and gain experience in raids. Right now, there is no real way to get experience outside of watching videos or lying your ass off and saying you have experience and being a pain in the ass for everyone on your team lol. Optional matchmaking would allow more people to get into raids and actually get to practice and apply the mechanics they've watched on YouTube with other noobs like them. Even if the matchmade team doesn't beat the raid, they still will gain valuable experience. Eventually they'd beat it, raids really aren't all that difficult honestly. The noobs could practice and get better while the people who don't want noobs cab simply ignore the matchmaking and grab groups off of lfg like they've been doing. Either way though, you'll find noobs, so it's kind of silly when people act as if incompetent players and noobs don't exist in lfg and would only exist in matchmaking. If anything, optional matchmaking would decrease the number of noobs on lfg because they'd have a better option for finding players. In the end, there would be way more experienced players because everyone would be able to practice consistently and get better. Not only would the competency of players in optional matchmaking improve over time, the competency of lfg players would also get better. The entire community would become more experienced and instead of having ~20% of players who have beaten a raid and know what to do, you could have 80-90% of players who are experienced. This would dramatically improve the raid experience for everyone, noobs and experienced players alike. ALL you need to do is add a couple of filters that you can check off like "must have mic" and of course matchmaking should only be able to be used by people who are the minimum required light for that raid. This would eliminate mic less people and underleveled players. Then it's simply a matter of hoping you get a competent team, which Imo is no different than lfg. Either way it's a coin toss, but lfg is the slowest and most tedious way to toss that coin. The best thing and pretty much the only argument needed to dispute those who don't want it is this: If you don't like the idea of Optional matchmaking, don't use it. It won't effect you at all.

Well xbox has an lfg that is incredibly active. Sorry if your two guns isn't cutting it for you on ps4. Edit: if there are people who can't learn how to interface with their console/platform that is their loss to have and is solely their fault. If they can't find the lfg that basically has its own tab they can go ahead and sit out on raids. Like having an I'm game lfg would just take up space for no reason.

              • No need for it, at least on the XB side of the game. They already provide a built in LFG system via XBL and offer clubs where people who support a game can come together.

                    • A message board system would work. You'd just have to put in what you're planning to do, and others players could just click your name, and join your fireteam. I'd like to see this system tested in destiny 1, and if it works, then it'd be put in the sequel.

                    • We have In Console LFG on Xbox One. If PS4 doesn't have this, then that sucks for them. Works pretty good on XB1 and it applies to all games. The only drawback is you can't search for a group if your in a group - except if you are the party leader and then can only post. Lastly, we don't need Bungie to waste resources on this when they should be stress testing their Regional Dedicated Host Servers for D2. Unless of course they will not have Dedicated Host Servers, and then it doesn't matter because I will not be buying Destiny 2 if that is the case. I will not up with 3 more years of Peer to Peer One console as host craptacular networking for shared (Crucible, Strikes and Raids) activities in D2.
