Lol, that kid is an idiot. He says there's no such thing as class mobility, yet I'm sure his parents came here poor. Now he's in a university and he says his brother lives a good life. How the -blam!- does that make any sense if class mobility isn't a thing? I don't think anyone should have to get down on their knees and praise this country, but I do believe that those who aren't at least appreciative of the opportunities they have here, should go back to where they came from. Seriously, if you believe this country is so evil and oppressive, go live somewhere that you feel is more accepting of you. My mother was born here, but her family and my father came from over the border, and we all live well here. We aren't rich, but we also aren't playing the damn victim card crying oppression and racist over meaningless crap. We're a family of hard working people. Some of my uncle's own their own businesses, my cousins are college educated and I will be going to school soon to better myself as well. Screw the kid in that video and those who think like him. America may not be a perfect country, but it's pretty damn close and I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else.

  • The US has he most class mobility on the planet and anyone that denies it doesn't do any research.

  • Lmao that's -blam!-ing false. Canada for example has at least 2x the class mobility the United States does. You clearly need to do research.

  • You're way off. 95% of the people in the bottom 20% of the income earners in the US will not be in the bottom 20% in the next 10 years. That's not even taking into consideration how often people come in and out of the top 1% all of the time. Anyone can go to college if they get the grades and the US has the best schools in the world which is why there are so many Asian people on American college campuses. Everything in the US is set up for people to succeed as long as they work at it and are even mildly competent. You're the one that needs to do some research my friend. Canada would be shit without the US anyways. Hell most of the world would be destroyed right now if not for the US.

Where are you getting your information from? Post links to studies. Every single study on social mobility I can find consistently shows that the USA ranks poorly in social mobility. This is just one example: https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/02_economic_mobility_sawhill_ch3.pdf That was the most recent study I could find.

  • They are studies and that study you showed is pretty much irrelevant. It has countries with 1/10 the population as the US. Denmark and Germany notably. Obviously if we got rid of all the stupid people in the US down to the best 30 million or so we would be way better off than what we are now. That's essentially what other smaller countries are. They don't have all the immigration. It's a sad truth but it is true that having one people group in a county is typically far more successful than having a mesh of a bunch of different people That's why people always point to small Nordic countries as being so great. They are tiny population and they are like 95% white.

  • You're really going to try to blame this on race and population size? Lol wtf are you smoking? You made a false claim that the USA has better class mobility than any other country. Now that I proved you wrong, you're back pedaling, pulling random shit out of your ass, arguing against your original claim.

  • Because population size and culture plays a massive role in social mobility. If you deny this then you're insane. Find me another country nearly as diverse as the US that also has such a wide variety of wealthy people from different cultures around the world. Oh wait, there aren't any other countries like that.

  • Unfortunately kemosabe actually has a point. We have a much larger population and that affects statistics and researchers and statisticians can skew the information however they want. I'll take a look at the article a bit later, as I'm at work, and verify that it's legit.
Begone with the thunderclap
• It isn't just one study. I spent a good 20 minutes reading other studies and they came to the exact same conclusion. I definitely admit I could be wrong and I wouldn't have a problem being proven wrong, but I don't think I am.

  • Again, haven't read the article. I'll take a look and do my own research in a bit.
Begone with the thunderclap
