Trials continues to be the most streamed event in Destiny. The elusive lighthouse still beckons to many guardians who have never made the trip. However while Trials keeps players interested in watching as a game mode in general it is far from flawless (pun intended.) For the average player who only gets a few hours to play a day or even a week, Trials is just not worth doing. Currently Twitch is filled with full time streamers who run Trials carries all day every day while the game mode is active. Some even taking bookings and charging $50 a run to take people to a part of the game they purchased for almost the same price. Trials is an interesting game mode and is really fun to watch, which is why there is a market for it on Twitch. But for an average player your experience in Trials is most likely getting curb stomped over and over by people who play the mode so much they can beat most teams in their sleep. How is someone with a family and full time job going to ever compete with that? These people train for this like professional athletes devoting a full work week of play time to the game. I know me and my friends no matter how much Crucible we play will be able to compete against these guys. It's their job and they are good at it, but I would like to play with my friends and have a good time. Not sit in a stream chat waiting on a raffle, or trying to find a team on LFG that is willing to take a low elo player on. My options are to either go in and be bullet fodder for stacked teams and carries, win a raffle on a stream, or pay someone to carry me. IMO 2 things need to happen in Trials moving forward. 1. A tiered ranked playlist. Let the best of the best shoot it out in Diamond and have Gold Silver Bronze lists. Give the Diamond players some special emblem so they can show off, but let the rest of us enjoy the experience. 2. Switch the game modes to Skirmish. Salvage, and Elimination. Some people just aren't skilled at the Elimination style and it would be fun to have over options. These 2 changes will keep people playing Trials and will allow those people making a living off Trials to still carry people looking for that Diamond Emblem.
