Screams. That's what I remember. My mother yelling. My father's grunts as he fought desperately. A loud crack. Silence. My father's blank eyes.
"Nooooo!!" I woke with a start. I was drenched in sweat. Gasping for air I looked around. I was in the small infirmary that we used sometimes for wounded soldiers.
"Good, your awake."
I looked toward the speaker.
"Galon!"
"Are you still in?" he asked.
"What?" I asked still dizzy from the dream.
"I asked, are you still in?" he said.
I thought back to what I had done. The weight of the knife in my hand. The feeling of the knife sinking into the dirt next to the guardian.
"I failed. I couldn't kill him. Why do you still want me?"
"Because, I was merely trying to give you an opportunity for revenge. We don't need you to kill guardians, we just need you to collect information. You are one of my soldiers and I will respect your choice." Galon said.
"Well for what it's worth, thank you." I said
"So, are you still in?"
"Yes, I'm in."
"Good, now get some sleep. I will be back in a little bit.
I nodded and lay back against the pillows.
Galon slowly closed the door behind him. He went down the hall and told the guards in front of the prison room to let him in. He walked to the electrified cage and said "So, I have a proposition for you."

And he's still expertly playing his cards, as I can insinuate by the fact that he seems to be making a deal with the Guardian. Great job
