Did you know that the word exotic doesn't mean better than? It is actually used to describe something that is different or unique Did you also know that exotics were never meant to be better than legendary weapons ?

  • So, in other RPG's, the Exotic gear you grind for to give you an edge in either PVP or PVE is supposed to be worthless? Huh.. well, a worthless aspect that is supposed to be for combat either in PVP or PVE should either be removed or only a collectible item (Example: only have the story for such item). The idea that an Exotic, which was supposed to have an edge against either players or environment, was nerfed so badly that the entire community is divided on whether it's just aesthetic or a viable weapon. Explain why the Exotic weapon should only sound and look cool? Doesn't make sense to have an item that can only have one placed or used upon your character if they don't actually give you an edge in combat.

  • 2 thing 1. Bungie has said exotics weren't meant to be overpowered 2. Destiny is barely an RPG

  • 1: It is still an RPG, whether or not you classify it as such. 2: The community changed Bungies mind. They were initially supposed to be turn-the-tide weapons. 3: They were initially a trial to get, and the hard quest for the weapons made them worth the DPS they dished out.

  • 1. I didn't say it wasn't an rpg, destiny is a shooter with rpg elements 2. No they weren't ? Where'd did you get that from? In previous balance patches they have explicitly stated exotics weren't meant to be overpowered 3. Were you around during year 1? Thorn SGA and bad juju all had difficult quests to acquire them yet all originally underperformed in both pve and PvP

I've been playing Destiny since Beta, and I don't know which year 1 you played, but if you used Thorn or Last Word you were unstoppable (if you were good). Bad Juju? Loved it. Red Death, Mida, Icebreaker, Vex, Invective, etc. were over powered, but they'd actually do more work than the legendary weapons. The meta type weapons, where everyone spams the exact same weapon in hopes that somehow they'll be able to win, don't even consider Exotics most of the time. I've seen more legendary weapons used that Exotic, since my hiatus. Sure, I'll get my kills, but two tapped by a palindrome while they survive a magazine from Hard Light? C'mon. You ever play an actual RPG? These "Exotic" weapons are the weapons that should be powerful. They shouldn't be easy to get, but they shouldn't be this weak. It's pathetic and, plainly, insulting to the year 1 players who gamed hard to earn those weapons, only to have them pretty much turned to a slingshot with rocks against cannons.

  • Thorn and bad juju sucked until they got buffed

  • They were OP when they were fresh and new. I ran Thorn for everything, including the first Trials of Osiris and Raids and almost never lost.

  • No, I'm talking before DLC. Before they kept getting nerfed.

  • I never had a problem with them in the beginning, my friends didn't have any problems with them, random I ran with never had problems. Mayhaps you are forgetting them, or never played year one? I've talked to friends, randoms, and went through old game clips. The year one exotics wrecked people.

  • Nah they were weak before they got buffed. Thorn had horrible reload speed and mag size. Also, bad juju got it's magazine, stability, carrying capacity, and they made bad juju lower your super cool down on kills. Before that bad juju didn't even do that. It wasn't op it was weak and a waste of an exotic slot.

  • You two tapped people with both weapons if you were accurate (although, Thorns poison did most of the work)

  • If exotics are supposed to be better why did they nerf them? If that was Bungies intended purpose why did that change ?

  • People whined about not being able to beat them. Suros, Thorn, and Vex got nerfed because everyone said they did more work than they were supposed too. The community dragged down Exotics. They were good as they were before every nerf to them.

  • Maybe because they wanted a balanced game?

  • If you play an RPG, and you come across a monster or enemy with a superior weapon, you outthink it, not whine at it to get easier to kill.
