In my opinion, not only should better skill based matchmaking be put in place, but a tiered flawless system for Trials. It's been a while now that I've run into countless games on my 5th, 7th, and even 8th win where I'm going against players who have been flawless 150+ times. However, I understand that trials is suppose to be challenging, but it isn't suppose to be so aggravating that I don't even attempt to play it or try to have fun with my friends and be competitive. Tier 0 (Non Flawless players) Novice Players who have never been flawless should only be matched against each other and then further match them based off of their skill. Even though this may piss people off because then "trials would be too easy," it really wouldn't. It would still take coordination and teamwork to go flawless and it would give people who want to just say they've done it once a chance to get it done. Tier 1 (Flawless 1-25times) Lightrunners This tier is for people who have gone flawless once and continue to amp up their skills and achieve more glorious lighthouse runs. Not only does this keep the competitive edge and nature of trials, but it limits new comers to the lighthouse from going against 150+ lighthouse veterans. Tier 2 (25-75times) Trials veteran Tier 3 (75-125times) Stompcard masters Tier 4 (150-200times) Team Osiris Tier 5 (200+ times) Guardians of the Lighthouse The benefits to this system would allow first time flawless guardians to choose whether or not getting into Trials is for them. Some may say that this takes away the competitive edge and nature of trials, but I beg to differ. You still need to have a reasonable skill set and understanding of how maps play out in order to go flawless in the first place. This system just benefits those who have been steered away from going flawless because of being demolished in their 5th, 7th, or 8th win. Then if those who make it flawless once choose to continue then the stakes only raise and it'll take acquiring more skill to achieve higher ranks. And by achieving new tier systems there can be specific loot and rewards (especially emblems) to prove your worth and determination to Osiris. ***Edit*** I greatly appreciate all of the feedback and I thank you guardians for pointing out flaws in this system. It's a great thing to see constructive criticism come together and shape an idea to perfection. Hopefully Bungie notices and we can get a well rounded implementation into Destiny. Keep on fighting for the lighthouse and hopefully I see some of you out there in the Crucible!
