The Cleveland Indians' name and logo has been a point of contention recently, and MLB commissioner Manfred is considering putting some pressure on the team to change their name and logo.

Should they keep or change the name and/or logo?
If they should change it, what should they change the name and/or logo to?

2 RepliesI think you should ask the remnants of the Erieehronon people who were native of the region. Problem is that they were essentially eradicated by the Iroquois people, more specifically the Seneca. The Seneca engaged in basically a genocidal warfare campaign against the Eire tribes because the had the assiduity to accept refugees from the Wyandot/Huron peoples. The Iroquois people/Seneca people essentially killed the entire Lake Erie basin native peoples. So, if you can get a person from the Erieehronon tribes who is offended by the Cleveland Baseball team, I'd be all about changing the name.

I remember reading an interview with an Indian chief a while ago about the names of some sports teams, and he said that he and his people were honored to have teams named after them.
-
5 RepliesThey should change it to this.
-
1 ReplyKeep it. Screw the Indians ( natives ) and other sjw that are "offended" by an innocuous name.
-
1 ReplyI don't think it is physically possible for me to care less about the name of a sports team.

8 RepliesEdited by Nigel Peppercock: 4/13/2017 3:48:32 AMWhen a team called the Alabama N*ggers show up on the field with a mascot that's purple with big red lips and juggles watermelons, THEN we can throw a fit.

13 RepliesSure but if they are forced to then every team must follow the same rules. Vikings are very offensive to whites and have racial stereotypes. They must also be forced to change along with many others. Gotta have equality in this and if anyone finds any team offensive to their race or ethnicity then it must be changed as well. Or you know we could not try to make an issue out of every thing we can find. Ever wonder how no one cared about the Indians or the Redskins 10 years ago? Maybe thats because it was never an issue and has only been made an issue by fanatic SJW's who find everything "racist". https://www.google.com/amp/www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2017/02/22/racist-walking-dead-t-shirt-pulled-uk-department-store/amp/ I mean read that story and tell me that people aren't actively trying to find racism at every corner.

Edited by RandyDaGod: 4/15/2017 3:42:11 PMNo because then next might be my Chiefs... NFL is a private establishment with private owners of each team.. if you don't like a name don't watch them play. If it really bothers then boycott the NFL/MLB/NBA/NHL/MLS all together. No one is being forced to watch it.

They should pull a Seattle redskins "We are changing our name from the Seattle redskins, to THE Seattle redskins."
-
Given that I'm white it's not really up to me to decide if it's offensive or not. But I don't like the mascot no matter what cause he just looks creepy

Perhaps they should do something along the lines of what the Washington Redskins did. Washington Redskins Ease Tensions With Native Americans By Adding Bottle Of Booze To Logo

Don't most native Americans not really care?
-
2 RepliesAs a registered member of the Cherokee nation, I could care less. Only full bloods addicted to firewater throw fits about stuff like this!

Are the local tribes bitching about it? If not, then leave it, if so, then honor their wish to change it. Simple solutions, brought to you by Mama Xronad's homemade cookies & cyanide! For when you want to reward the folks you like & end those that annoying! I wonder if I could make a fictional evil cookie company podcast......

I don't care at all, but if the First Nations people find it offensive, it ought to be changed.
-
Depends on how the people it may affect feel about it. If it doesn't bother them, then keep it. If the incorrect name does bother them, then maybe change it. Either way, that logo is creepy, so it should be changed anyway lol.
-
As a rose bud native american, why would you change your history?
-
4 RepliesYou know it's a slow week in the soccer mom fake outrage department when this shit comes up.

I'm kinda surprised these people haven't come after my nfl team yet... (The chiefs)
-
The actually have that name because there was a great Native American player on their team and had the name to honor him, oppose to the Redskins who keep the name because of arbitrary "tradition." So they have an actual reason for their name is what I'm saying.
-
Name? Idk. Mascot? Fuccing do it now.
-
Where's the "who cares" option?
-
They should change it to Cleveland Red Skins.
-
Personally, I've always thought the logo looked kind of stupid. So, yeah, I could get behind a change of logo. Not because it's racist, which is neither here nor there, but because it's not the best looking logo by a long shot.

1 ReplyThey should change the logo but not because it's offensive but rather because it looks stupid
