Exclusives aren't actually that great for business tbh. I'll probably ditch Xbox once they stop producing games for the XB1. PC will be the way to go.
Exclusives aren't actually that great for business tbh.
You obviously don't know anything about business then.

I think he's referring to it being bad for the consumers.

Games sell better when they're available on more platforms, and exclusives don't statistically have the console selling power they used to.
-
It's called a monopoly. If you had no exclusives you would have no incentive to choose one over the other. It would eventually come down to one console making all the money. This would mean they have no competition and could sell you whatever garbage they wanted because it's the only thing you could get. That is horrible for consumers. The more competition the better the quality.

It's not as much a question of selling games as much as it is selling consoles. More exclusives=more reasons for people to buy that console, more console sales=more money Sony/MSoft has to pay developers for more exclusives.

Have you ever heard of the word monopoly?
-
I mean, no, it wouldn't be a monopoly. Developers would still have to compete between developers. If there were no exclusives, then the companies behind the consoles would have to compete to create even more powerful consoles to grab you, rather than get more exclusive deals.
