Try to make the best of it; take the time to study Christian theology, that way, if you're an atheist, you can find things for your argument of life not mattering. And vice versa for the Christian.

Well, it's less of studying, and more of singing the same songs over and over.. At this point, I would have a PhD in Christianity and I am able to recognize any modern Christian song.

Oh yeah, worship without substance is useless imo, convince your mom that you'd prefer to study the theology through writings instead, or do what I did and get a job so that you have to work that day.

That's pretty damn good idea. Now that I'm about to get my license, that would be perfect.
