People see science as absolute authority in our secular society. Put "Science says" in front of everything and it is readily accepted by so many, which is sad. Science says this post is cool. Science says evolution is a fact. Science says we are all just soulless beings that live and then die.

  • You see, the thing about science is that it is true, whether you believe in it or not

  • That is a wonderful statement, and I agree with you completely. We just need to define science, science is the scientific method. It is an observation of the natural world around us through observations of logic and experimentation. I was just stating that some people abuse the word science.

  • Yes, certain people do abuse the word, I wholeheartedly agree. And it's usually the people who have no idea about the scientific method, who does it. More often than not, they just convey, or para-phrase some ill-interpreted Stat they've seen on some less than unbiased, not scientific tv-show or whatnot. I'm currently on law-school, and let me tell you, the amount of case-studies and general depositions I get to sit in on (interning has its "perks" , the amount of wierd stats I have to look up is depressing, because people believe they understand it, with no prior experience with statistical analysis

  • Best of luck to you in law school, there are lots of people in the litigation industry.

  • Not here, it's kind of a surprisingly small industry, must be because it's a small country, and the requirements for law-school are somewhat ludicrous. Luckily my grandfather has a lawfirm and stuff, so I got lucky like that

  • Cool. Here in America there are tons of lawyers. My father used to be one.
