Evolution doesn't make any sense when you go back super far. However, if you look more recent, it makes a lot of sense. To an extent it has to be real. Why else are there not billion-year-old fossils of present day organisms? Also, as a note, evolution doesn't disprove religion. For all religous people know, their god created evolution but just never brought it up.
