If you haven't read all the chapters, go to the Table of Contents. Hope you enjoy this chapter! By the way, I give all credit to my friend, Archon of Scar, for creating the new character, Vrayth (pronounced Vwraith). Enjoy! My guards and I had just been let into Payam’s palace. I’m just glad he shows courtesy, rather than show hostility on the first sign of a visitor. I feel like I am used to that by now. He says to me, “Come on, in! I do not have many visitors ever since Pahanin’s tragedy. People fear ol’ Yor, but he’s been dead for a while! Ridiculous, isn’t it?” “Yes, it is, sir.” I reply, trying to hide disinterest. Payam looks to me and says, “Please, sit.” He points over to a dining table, chairs already pulled out. I take my seat, and so do the three men that I brought with me. The leader asks me, “Tell me, Awoken, what is it that you seek here in Pahanin’s Cove?” I reply, “My name is Dennis Rager. I have come on the account of the House of Scar.” Payam tenses up and says to me, “You are here on behalf of Scar? Your kell isn’t plotting to take from us, does he?” “No! No, he doesn’t have bad intentions. I came here in search of something.” Payam, still having suspicions, calms down a little. “Okay, baron. What is it you have come to take, then? Glimmer? Soldiers? Well tell me!” I try to keep my calm. This man was going to make this harder than it needed to be. “My kell believes there is an eliksni here with the talents of an Archon Priest. Is there any within the cove that fits that description?” Payam furrows his brow, thinking on my question. He snaps his finger at an epiphany he has just had. “I know someone! His name is Vrayth, he owns a house close by. Although, he is somewhat of a strange looking fellow…” My eyes light up with joy relief when he says this. “Thank you, Mr. Payam! I am sorry my visit is cut short, but I am on orders.” “The pleasure is mine. Anyways, if there is something else you need, I am right here. Come back anytime you like, Mr. Rager. Here is the address to Vrayth’s home. If anyone asks, I never gave it to you.” He hands me a note with the eliksni’s address written on it. I signal my soldiers to come along as we exit the palace. I head over towards the house, and before I get there, Nayvadis and his half of the crew meet me near the spire. He approaches me and says, “Rager, I know of someone that Vesrik is looking for! I also have a message for Vesrik from the House of Talon.” I reply, “I have him too. I have the one called Vrayth’s address, and it’s close by. Wait, but what is the message about?” “Not allowed to open until we get back to our kell. Let’s move, and find Vrayth.” The baron and I head in the direction of the Archon Priest’s home. We approached a strange house with an even stranger structure. I could tell that this peculiar eliksni had taken parts from ketches and human structures to create this house. Every other house is built by Payam’s local government, but this one was not. Nayvadis looks at me concerningly and says, “You first. I’d rather not get closer to that thing until I know someone even lives in it.” I take a few steps forward towards the eight foot door, and give it a knock. No one answers, but I hear footsteps within the house. Tap, tap. It sounded more metallic than the normal eliksni’s boot. It kept getting closer. Tap, tap. They almost sound like the rattling of chains, and even more so like talons. It stopped right when the sound got to the opposite side of the door. It just stood there, on the other side for almost thirty seconds. The doorknob turns, and the door creaks when it opens. Behind the door revealed an eliksni, seven feet and standing. His posture was proud and his armor sleek. Something was odd, nonetheless. The eliksni’s two right eyes were replaced with an attachment that seemed to… swarm? A large, crimson scarf was draped around his neck and a shrapnel launcher was magnetically attached to his back. The weapon was unconventional compared to usual Fallen design. The shotgun seemed to be upgraded with the same red technology that replaced his eyes. He spoke with a voice like Variks, and says, “You seek me out, Scar-folk?” He has already taken note of my cloak. “What typical mercenary work will you burden me with today?” Trying to hide the slight fear I have in the back of my mind, I reply, “Actually, Vrayth, my kell, Vesrik, wishes to recruit you as an Archon Priest. We heard that you are longing to have the title once again after we arrived here, and that led us to you.” Vrayth’s raised a brow with his left eye; he clearly did not expect this. “Scar wants me to be their Archon Priest? It feels… right, to join you.” I’m just surprised he is enthusiastic for this. If anything, I expected reluctance and hesitation. Hopefully we have him onboard with ease. Nayvadis stepped forward, and said, “So you do wish to join, yes?” The large eliksni nods. “It is good to get back to my roots, yes? I accept the position, if your kell accepts my proposition.” I shake Vrayth’s hand to ‘seal the deal’ on this. He grabbed what provisions he needed from his house. Once he had packed, he went towards Payam’s palace to pay for his house in full to ensure he has a place to go, just in case. He gets back to us after his brief words with the leader of the cove. “I am ready to meet your kell, yes?” “Alrighty, then. I’ll have the crew beam us up.” I contact Valerie, telling her our coordinates and to lock on to all nine of us. We find ourselves on the bridge, Vesrik’s back turned to us. His cloak sways when he turns around to look at the candidate. He looks a little surprised to see what he sees. The swarming attachment on his eye would throw off anyone. Vesrik steps in front of Vrayth. “What is your name, and more importantly, what are these… red ornaments?” “My name is Vrayth. These are just technological advancements I have made myself, to strengthen myself in combat.” Vesrik was not satisfied with the answer. “Okay, whatever, I guess it isn’t that important. Rager tells me you were part of Vosyth’s order, so that must mean you have the skills of an Archon Priest, but does that mean you are willing to be one?” Vrayth nods his head respectively. “Of course… my kell.” “Good, then. First assignment, I need you to build the prime in the engineering station. You should know where that is, you’ve been on a ketch before.” Vrayth bows and heads out of the bridge. Before I forget, I tell Vesrik about the message. “Vesrik, a messenger was down in Pahanin’s Cove.” The kell looks at me with concern. “A message from the House of Talons’ Kell himself.”

Rager: "Hello, Payam, thank you for the warm reception." Payam: "My pleasure, Rager. To what do I owe the visit?" Rager: "I'm here on orders to find a plot-convenient character. Do you know anyone fitting that description living in your town?" Payam: "Why, it just so happens that I do. A short while back, a guy moved into town. After building his house, he told me that some other guys would come looking for him soon. He said he was the plot-convenient character you were trying to find, and to give you his address. Here's a piece of paper with his address, that I somehow had available right away. Because it's plot-convenient. Have a nice day."
