I'm not saying that Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn't a great game that doesn't deserve great scores, but it's extremely difficult to take most of the reviews for this title seriously. It'd be different if the reviewer base wasn't made up of so many Nintendo apologists who are franchise fanboys that are jacked full of bias. Reviewers and fans alike have a very real tendency to look the other way and forgive a lot of things that they normally wouldn't when it comes to beloved franchises like Zelda. People can argue all they want but no amount of surface climbing, tall grass cutting, or tree chopping is going to change the fact that BotW's massive open world is both empty and lifeless. It's no less baron than the open world titles that constantly get called out for the same exact thing. But it's Zelda, so it's ok, right? Now let's talk about the infamous "Ubisoft Towers". This is without a doubt one of the most complained about mechanics in open world games, but guess what, Zelda has them. You wouldn't know that though because a lot of reviewers neglected to discuss that fact in their reviews and the ones who did briefly speak about it did so in a manner that basically gave the game a free pass because somehow they used the mechanic differently. Which they didn't. But it's Zelda, so it's ok, right? The two things that I've listed above would no doubt bring the score of almost any other open world game down, but because it's Zelda that just isn't the case. With that sort of integrity backing up reviews for this title how could anyone take it's perfect scores seriously? It's one thing for opinions to differ but reviewers/fans have been blatantly glossing over and ignoring issues that they'd have no quarrels bringing up with non Nintendo/Zelda games. Edit: Alice Bell wrote an article illustrating my point regarding "Ubisoft Towers" perfectly. Here's the Link... • Having so many fans as reviewers could just as easily have lead to a negative review (overly critical arses) about their favorite series of games. And you mention Ubisoft towers as if they are just a thing EVERYONE doesn't like, while I figured something like that would be opinion based. I definitely don't mind them, but hell.. it's like a skill you people have. Take the most stupid possible thing to whine about and treat it as a major point in your argument about something beyond pointless.

  • You people? I'm not exactly sure what people it is that you're referring to but my comment is far from whiny. Clearly your reading comprehension isn't the greatest and everything went over your head, which is fine, intelligence isn't everyone's strong suit. Unless you have something substantial to add to the conversation do everyone a favour and don't bother commenting. I'd have a better time conversing with a potato. Thanks for the input though, champ!

  • And wow, reviewing my previous comment I'd say yours was a bit of an overreaction. I get that kids can't take criticism because they often take it personally, but you my friend.. you're setting new records.

  • There's criticism, there's intelligent debate, and then there's being an assh*le. It's very apparent that you're unaware of the difference. I forgive you though, I wouldn't want you to strain yourself thinking too hard, Felicia.

  • You come off as someone who only really has human interaction over the Internet, so I'm neither upset nor surprised. Then again, I'm not the one criticizing a game about a single pointless aspect, wasting quite a bit of time writing my carefully thought out opinion everyone else has to respect. I'd tell you what I really think of stains like you but I'd definitely get banned. I'll settle for a mute I guess.

  • Thank you for further proving my point in regards to both your intelligence and your reading comprehension, big guy. I'd try to spell it all out for you but that clearly wouldn't do you any good. As they say, you can't fix stupid. Keep up the good work!

  • So you go from whining about bullshit to baseless insults? Yeah, good luck talking to that potato lmao. Bye Felicia.

My comment is far from baseless. You've illustrated my points quite nicely in fact. Are you upset, fella? Edit: Bye Felicia? You're a double threat. A shining example of intelligence AND originality. Haha. XO

  • Yeah agree with the Ubisoft point. Especially with Horizon Zero Dawn being so heavily criticized because of those things. Especially the TallNecks being towers. Yet I don't recall one BOTW review giving it the same criticism for their use of Towers

  • As far as I've seen there hasn't been a single reviewer who's touched on the subject. At least not in length and not in a way that doesn't prove my point.
