The Traveler is dead, at least that's what they say in multiple cut scenes. It never made sense.

Well, my stupid ghost told me he was created as the traveler died, so that ornament is dead.

Nail, head, hit.

By "dead" they mean that she was damaged so badly that she was forced to go into a dormant state
-
I know that it's dormant. But dead is not dormant, and that's what they keep saying. Seems like a pretty big oversight to me.

Well they say dead as a figurative term, like, the way someone might say we killed them after winning some sort of sporting event
-
At the point in the story when they say that (the very beginning) it doesn't really work as a figurative term since at that point we pretty much know nothing. At least that's the way I remember it, could be remembering wrong though.

Idk, unless the traveler can magically revive itself, because it says many times that one day the traveler will awaken
-
Well, we know the traveler is more or less just dormant. But the terminology they used and the placement of that terminology in the story timeline wasn't their best choice.

And yet, the Stranger said we could heal it.. Very interesting stuff to think about :-)
