I'm sure Microsoft fixed their mistakes this time around, and are looking into the priceable future when Sony will be working on their PS5 in 2020.
I'm sure Phil and Xbox division has heard a lot of the criticism over the years and will be ready to produce a much more improved Xbox for 2020. I have faith in them, and I'm sure they won't make the same mistake they did for this generation.
Sony has won this generation, but Xbox also won as they improved themselves to be more open to the public to what the costumer truly wants.
I'm sure Xbox will hit a home run next generation. I enjoy both consoles, but I have faith in Xbox for 2019 - 2020 and I'm sure they've learned their fault when launching Xbox one (cough tv cough)
I enjoy both platforms, I do not pick a side of which system I like better. I love all exclusives this generation has to offer.
What do you guys think? Will Xbox rebounce for their next console?

I'm pissed Xbox cycled the only good exclusives it had coming out. Fable. Scalebound. Other than that if you own a pc no reason to have an Xbox. Anymore it's just going to be ps vs pc. Exclusives will rule the gaming industry.
-
Haven't desired anything Sony's put out to warrant buying a ps. Tlu and horizon zero dawn doesn't justify a purchase. So many games on xbone, and 4 free games every month through games with gold. Never, ever have a lack of games.
-
Xbox is doing just fine.... Im not sure what fantasy land ponies live in but xbox is just fine. Better network and controller is plenty to keep me around over the 60 million sales that ponies claim to make the ps4 so much better.
-
2020? We're getting an improved next gen Xbox this year lol
-
Sony has won this generation, but Xbox also won as they improved themselves to be more open to the public to what the costumer truly wants.
How can both win? And what does the customer "truly" want? Last I checked Sony has been doing that better which is why they're winning this gen in the first place(?)

Microsoft moving to play anywhere means there's no longer a need for an Xbox.
-
They need better IPs, especially singleplayer based ones... I had so much hope for Scalebound, but with its cancelling I got -blam!-ing mad! The Last Guardian was 10 years in development and Sony supported it, Scalebound 2 or 3 yeare (if Im correct) and they cancel it. That was a bad move.
-
Our exclusives suck ass, we need new better ones
-
I wish that MS would just invest in new IPs instead of relying on Halo and Gears to carry them
-
They need to be more open. PlayStation has some awesome games that I would love to play like last of us or neir
-
They need some new ips that are not multiplayer focused and if 343 don't fix halo the mess they made Xbox would be better stopping halo altogether and making a new ip
-
I honestly don't care, people think just because one sells more they are the better product. I think Xbox is the better product. Online service and features, elite controller, potential mouse and keyboard support. Not to mention they are running Windows and are running into the pre-built PC path.
-
Plot twist: Nintendo destroys both of them and takes over the industry.
-
If they have new, good exclusives they'll win

Edited by LahDsai: 2/27/2017 5:46:22 PMWouldn't surprise me. Sony dominated with the PS2 but then got too comfortable. Microsoft cashed in on this with the 360 but then got arrogant. Sony learned from their mistakes and took back their place with the PS4. Wouldn't be surprising if things continue to flip-flop as companies get cocky from their successes then work hard to win back from their failures. That being said, though, Microsoft seems to be moving away from the traditional console model for a more PC like "upgradable" platform.
-
Anyone else thinking that eventually that Xbox's and PS's will just be pre-built PC's?
-
I'm sure that the higher sales rates of both consoles over their predecessors won't exactly incentivise either side to drastically alter their policies in the future. I will say though, it's wishful thinking to believe that the next generation of Microsoft and Sony gaming products will be actual consoles and not a series of PC hybrids, or possibly cloud services.

Nah. Xbox has been trash for a while. Nothing'll change

Edited by Psychic Donuts: 2/27/2017 5:44:52 PMOoh this post triggers something small in me. Xbox isn't doing generation based releases anymore. Don't think of this as some type of war. Microsoft is now attempting something with Xbox that Sony simply can't with PlayStation. Microsoft owns the OS of two of the three gaming platforms. They are using that well finally. It's no mystery that the PlayStation 4 is selling amazingly. Sony did some crack work with their marketing and console early on to get the edge. Don't get me wrong, Sony made an amazing console and so has Xbox. Microsoft made a mistake in trying to make Xbox an "entertainment platform" and Phil Spencer is mending that. Now they are looking at more than just a console, Xbox has become more and it will grow. The PlayStation will continue. After this generation they're better off than ever (and Sony needs PlayStation). I'm saying that Xbox, at this point, can't compete with PlayStation through just a console because of their early mistakes.
When your comment is longer than the actual post /s
What mistakes? Xbox destroys PlayStation..

They might manage to bounce back, I love both consoles too and I'm definitely getting the next consoles. But we don't have to wait until 2019/20 for the next Xbox... they're releasing project Scorpio this year. And it's supposed to kinda bridge the gap between console and pc, have upgradable parts and processing power close to a top lvl pc but retain a standard console price. And of course you'll be able to play all your normal Xbox one games on it as well as whatever future games release for it. Though they've stated that at the moment they're not planning any specific exclusives for the Scorpio so those that don't get it cuz they don't wanna or don't have the money yet don't have to worry about being left behind.

Hell with how they have released upgraded versions of the original so early I am doubting there will be a next gen in 2020 lol. Unless it was announced somewhere and I missed it. Shame that you have to pay for online and be so restricted. Hopefully those habits go away while they adopt a more flexible standard like PCs.
-
If they don't pull the same stunt they did when unveiling the xbone at E3 2013, maybe.
-
Xbox is an entertainment system PlayStation is a gaming system
i still love Xbox
-
Xbox only cares about hardware not about games. It always has. Ps is a gamers system and will always sink money into exclusives. Plus I thought Microsoft said they weren't making a new console again. Just upgrading the Scorpio over and over.
-
Xbox has always been just a competitor the PS in the home console market, who knows what tactics they might pull to try and get the no1. spot.
