Ill just cut to the chase and say that my thoughts are negative. I do not agree with that bungie is going to do with the NLB, at all. To start off, the sniper is a skill based weapon. Its not like the Mida Multitool where you can pick it up, and go destroy with it. You need to dedicate time into this weapon if order to even be somewhat effective with it. Ive spent week learning and practicing this weapon. People who are in the top 1% by using this weapon have spent months perfecting their skill with it. Its not an easy weapon to use. One of the things you need to master is how to snipe while under fire. Using the NLB penalizes you for using a sniper in the primary slot. You don't get to use a Hand Cannon, or the Suros Regime, or anything that is easy to use while being shot. The NLB does have flinch though. While ADS, the sights are obstructive enough, the weapon sways, and when you get shot, the barrel of the gun can go off the screen. With it doing that, you need to pretend like your not getting flinched and what the sights would be on. You need to think of that while your getting shot and staying alive. That itself is a hard task to do for some people. Let alone the aim assist is incredible low for a sniper rifle so it is hard to hit a headshot if your try to hit the headshot before they shoot you. Even then, the opponent if they are a good player, will be strafing side to side, making if even harder to line up the shot. TrueVanguard made a video discussing the NLB flinch and how difficult it is to actually land the shot. So overall, it is hard to get that shot underfire. But it does happen and with the way destiny is, if you get the first shot off, you have a high chance of winning that gunfight. When people get sniped after getting the first shot, it is frustrating, but thats one of the strengths of NLB, being able to kill while being flinched. Like I mentioned it has drawbacks just for using it. Weapon sway, no primary, obstructive sights, slow fire rate, gun jamming, low ammo, low aim assist. Its a well balanced weapon. It has gained hatred and feedback on the forums because people get killed with it, but its harder to get the kill, than to not get the kill. The reason why its gained popularity after the patch is because it ignores the special ammo changes, its always been No Flinch Beyond, and it hasn't been an issue in the past. The gun just had an uproar because of the special ammo nerf. So the gun itself is not the problem, its the ammo nerf that is making it so constant in the meta. This isn't a rant on the ammo nerf, so I won' talk about that. All that being said, I'm not a fan of the nerf. Its in the best spot it can be right now, and its effectiveness is based on your skill. Its not like the Y1 thorn, or Blink Shotgunning which takes no skill to use. It takes time to perfect using this weapon and why it shouldn't be nerfed. Please, if you feel like I missed something that bungie should know, comment it. Lets try to get as many agreement poll responses to get bungie's attention. Thank you everyone who managed to read through all of that and please take this into consideration. Have a good rest of your day.
