Let Us Remind Bungie I feel it is important for the fans of Destiny who have been fallowing the game since before the first ViDoc or Alpha footage was released, to remind Bungie what their original Goal and Initiative was. I vividly remember after almost a year and a half of excitement and anticipation for the release of Destiny, seeing Crucible footage for the first time. A year and a half of single-player/cooperative game play was the beginning of Destiny and Bungie's main selling point which had me sold after the first ViDoc. It wasn't until just a few months before releasing the public beta that Bungie released any information about the Crucible. The argument I'm trying to make is simple but viciously polarizing. All of these hotfixes Bungie has released since the launch of Destiny 1.0.0.0 have undoubtedly changed the game significantly. Many of the hotfixes have done positive things for the game all around by removing game braking bugs, flawed design choices, and many other significant issues in the game. In argument, the necessity to release many of the other hotfixes directly causing a negative effect on player's game play experience during cooperative gaming sessions in exchange for a more positive game play experience during a competitive gaming session goes against Bungie's initial Goal and Initiative. Crucible was not initially one of Bungie's primary focuses for Destiny. The gaming experience Bungie had originally conceived was focused on creating a positive experience for players exploring their open world locations and interacting with other players also roaming the areas. Let me remind Bungie and fellow Guardians what Crucible really is according to Lord Shaxx and the lore.
Lord Shaxx is one of the heroes of the Battle of the Twilight Gap, having led the counterattack that pushed the Fallen from the City walls. Fearing that another full-scale assault would be more than the City could repel, Shaxx chose to stay in the City to mentor Guardians in the Crucible. One day Shaxx vows to return to the war beyond the City, but only after he is confident the fires of the Crucible have forged a new generation of warriors.
The Crucible is an optional training exercise hosted by a temporarily retired Warrior Guardian who vows to return to fight once he has built a new army of Guardians. Bungie has improperly influenced us into this insignificant training exercise by decreasing Guardians abilities effectiveness in the more significant war against the darkness. The significance of the single-player/cooperative and competitive game play are defined directly by the lore Bungie put so much time and effort into writing, and is not influenced in anyway by my own opinion. I feel that I have made my point clear and will leave the rest of the dispute to the community. As the writer of this forum, I stress that I tried to incorporate as much fact and as little of my own opinion as possible. I will now take this opportunity to say I do enjoy certain Crucible features very much, but in the end I will always support positive improvements to single-player/cooperative game play before making positive improvements to competitive game play, especially in a game like Destiny. Poll Answer Meanings: "I fight to push back the darkness!" - Undo the nerfing of sub-classes and weapons that negatively effected single-player/cooperative game play with the intentions of positively effecting the competitive game play. "I train for the war against the darkness." - Keep all current hotfixes and changes as is and continue the hunt for balance in the Crucible. "Bungie will do the right thing." - Trust that Bungie will do what is necessary to make Destiny better in every way as often as they can (this would be classified as the neutral option).
