One of the interesting things to have come out of this patch is how we redefine an optimum roll. By way of example, I got an Eyasluna to drop for my hunter yesterday with Sureshot/Underdog/Explosive rounds and Icarus. Until this week I would have instantly dismantled it on the basis that it does not at least have a range perk and I have a couple of 'god roll' Palindromes and LHFs, but with the new HC range nerf + accuracy buff changing the character of HCs (for the better in my opinion) I thought I would invest some motes and take it for a spin for science - It was an absolute beast. Got a couple of triples and shut down a couple of supers with it in the first game. I have 3 or 4 Rifled Barrel Eyaslunas sitting in the vault that are, according to accepted wisdom 'better' but this oddball roll just felt great and I am not sure why.
I would be interested to hear if any other guardians got a drop that they nearly dismantled, only to discover it was an undiscovered monster.

Cryptic dragon with Take A Knee, Braced Frame, and Outlaw.

Had a similar experience with an eyesluna with relentless tracker, explosive rounds, and hidden hand. I have a god roll with rangefinder, rifled, and LitC, but the explosive + hh roll just seemed to perform better (RT is lame though in my opinion).
-
Had a sniper with take a knee thought it was crap. Take a knee was actually beneficial

Edited by Kelbi Kalbi: 2/20/2017 10:45:04 PMHoly sht! I am adding another to the list. Having belatedly discovered the joys of Exploding Rounds (see above), I just had a NL Shadow with ER drop. Immediately moted that sucker up and took it for a test run. It. Was. Absurd.... Hilarious - opponents just don't know what to do when their head is lighting up like the 4th of July. 23 kills at 2.56 k/d. Should have been way more but I suck. I have never run out of primary bullets before! I am a newly confirmed and unashamed 'sploshun junkie!

Edited by GalaxySpider: 2/22/2017 8:39:42 PMLast Word. No range increase. Still kicks ass. 😋 JK

I usually delete stuff with bad rolls right away, or save them for infusion
-
I have a Dragon with take a knee, exsplosive and firefly..this with transverse steps is fun.

PDX-41 Take-A-Knee High Caliber Rounds Hand-Laid Stock SPO-57 Bought this roll from Gunsmith just to make more room for new Armsday orders. Decided to keep it and test it out. Was out gunning 'Clever Dragons' in their prime at range.

Got a beautiful Angel's Advocate with Mulligan, smallbore and return to sender. I get kills, I get ammo back. I miss shots, I get ammo back. It's wonderful.
-
Found an Unbent Tree with focus fire in the vault. Holy hell it melts.
-
My byronic hero. Thought it was crap. Lol its a beast. Icarus explosive rounds and relentless tracker with quickdraw or truesight. I am gonna use it tonight lol.
-
My unending deluge machine gun with linear compensator, surplus, perfect balance, and the most important perk on it, Take-a-Knee. Got it early on rise of iron and decided to try it out in the crucible with the changes to perks like Take-a-knee. Long story short. I went from an aggressive machine gunner to a defensive one and I now crouch by habit anytime i get heavy ammo.

A NLB with guerilla fighter and airborne.

I think it was the first Hawksaw I ever got. It was my highest light gun for a while (back then was it 295?), so I was maining it in PvE. Then my buddy took us unexpectedly into a crucible match, so I used it. Did surprisingly well. At the time I wasn't paying much attention to perks, later noticed it had snapshot. I kept if for a long time, but have gotten so many Hawksaws since then with great rolls (I've kept 4) that I'm not sure if I still have it or not. I do have one with snapshot but I don't remember if this was the original.

A god roll spare change I knew I should've kept it ;_;
-
My 1kYS, that I use for PvE. Thought having triple tap and outlaw made it junk, because they're for two polar opposite situations. Turns out to be incredibly versatile. If I'm using it for clearing adds in a strike, pop a few, stupid fast reload, and resume. If I'm fighting a boss? Free round every 3 hits. Best for all situations, burns notwithstanding

A lot of my sidearms that I got rid of because I didn't have vault space a month ago. -blam!-ing Bungie man..... that's why we ask for more vault space, yesterday's antique is today's meta.

Edited by Codykins: 2/21/2017 4:33:18 AMIf I recall correctly, explosive rounds don't suffer from damage falloff due to the range stat, they suffer from their own form of falloff, which is less severe (The main damage will suffer dependent on the range stat, the split damage from the explosive will not), so using a hand-cannon with fair range and explosive rounds can actually suffer less damage falloff than a hand-cannon with Rifled Barrel, due to the falloff on the second half of damage being applied differently.

Zen moment, explosive rounds and grenadier on the tread upon stars scout. I thought it was an average roll at best and now it is my go to primary for pve. Absolute workhorse of a gun. Even does alright in pvp as it has small bore in the middle column also.
-
My imago loop with triple tap, firefly, truesight, and lightweight. Thing has a base range of that of a down and doubt 00-0 with rifled barrel! It's my favourite, although, I just wanted any range increasing perk... even hand loaded would've been fine...
-
Well, I got a god roll spare change once Saddest day of my life
-
Icarus with Close and or personal....
-
Thing is I immediately dismantle any lack luster roll. I couldn't tell you lol.
-
A have a real darkhorse: The Villainy with Red Dot OES, Secret Round, Fitted Stock, and Feeding Frenzy. It's withstood meta after meta since I got it early in year 2 and all it does it exceed my expectations.
