Very recently I posted about being the most casual casual in Destiny. It was a fun post about things I'd done and not done in game.
The aim was to promote the idea that the games all about fun and for some of us (for a number of reasons) we just have not done stuff that others (better players, more serious players, more organised players) have done. Or, as in my case, I love to patrol and aimlessly shoot stuff.
I was and am totally overwhelmed by the many offers to team up. I have already responded to several friend requests and have noted at least a dozen more to add.
I'm 50, in the Uk, Autistic (no, that doesn't mean stupid lol) and I've had two strokes (coordination sucks) so you may not know what you're letting yourself in for (or you may, as you read this, be quickly deleting that friend request you sent lol)
But thank you all so much. It's amazing and I really do appreciate it. I look forward to teaming with you in all sorts of activities in the future.
Edit: apparently disclosing I'm Autistic means I'm attention seeking and need sympathy. I could also have edited my other post. The reason I didn't was because I'd had so many responses I thought by making this thread people would notice a new thread rather than revisit an old topic and thus be forewarned.
Secondly, I don't need attention nor sympathy. I'm giving a heads up that I find social interaction difficult so teaming with me might be a little awkward or stilted. That's being practical, not seeking sympathy.
The plus side is that I am now forewarned about trolls!
Happy gaming!

Why is it that everybody claims to be autistic these days? Is it the new cool thing and I just missed the memo?
-
I work with developmentally disabled adults and they all have game systems; PS4, X1, Wii U, X360, PS2, 3DS - and let me tell you I have played every game they have ever bought along with them. I entirely understand your entertainment being just running around patrol and killing stuff. Games are tough for them and the learning curve for games that require quick reflexes is very steep. It gives me the most joy when I can help them to beat a part of a game and they finally learn to do it themselves. It's a lot of work but that's what is the most fun. If you are on psn and would like some tips and tricks to increasing your crucible skill I would be more than happy to help as much as you need. - okRoses

You seem to communicate fine. I assume you have aspergers?
-
Haha you're an attention seeking autistic--- .... JK, bro- people tell me to kill myself on these forums sometimes- don't worry about the opinion of mindless die hard fan boys who got nothing better going for them.
-
50 with 2 strokes? Man, take care of your health. Gaming is good for improving coordination but try to do more physical activities and eat healthy. No smoking no drinking. Good luck.
-
Dont worry i recognise the strength it takes just to admit your disability. If i still had a raid team id invite you along for a fun adventure if you had about 4hours avaliable to run the four raids. Its unfortunate that my team has gone but im sure others on these forums can assist you and would suggest doing these as they are a blast

Look man i dont know if your genuine or not and i sincerely hope you are. If you are then feel free to ignore the trolls and keyboard warriors that swamp this community and know that not everyone in here just sits waiting to spout venom.
-
Congratulations on being out and proud about your autism! Bro has it too, doesn't make him any less of a person or 'attention seeking'! If its ok, I would love to add you on psn! Always looking for new people to play with (even though I am extremely offensive haha)

We will never see each other due to different systems, but I say hang tough. Never back down. So why is it I seem to find players in the UK. I live near the mountains in the US west. Our hours are limited and work plays havoc with what time the UK players have. Though I am retired I can always enjoy players that want to put up with my weird style. I tend to hold my firing stance just a little too long before I move. Which also tends to be my downfall.

2 strokes? Damn, dude. I'll lend a hand for randomly shooting stuff once in a while. It's a good stress reliever after work.

My Titan has achieved badassery.
-
Oh god , you're post is still around? Eye of shet, quit this shit
-
So what you're saying is you're level 50?
-
My clan does free carries for any pve stuff, so hit me up with a pm if you need any help
-
One day I hope to be as casual as you are.
-
Autism isn't that great of an insult. But kudos to you for surviving those who consider it as such. Hit me up on PSN: puncherline I do have Destiny with a 390 Warlock but I mostly play other games.
-
I honestly don't get why people use Autism as a joke, it honestly isn't. But while I may not play the game anymore, I hope you enjoy yourself in the future Guardian!
-
Just wanna say that I had a moment of extreme dyslexia (I'm not actually dyslexic) I read autism and autistic as artism and artistic. I thought we were talking about crafts for a moment there and I feel very silly... T_T

I'm 58, enjoy

That's great. I know I'm a good member of this community and I know there are others, but sometimes it's easy to forget in this hateful, ugly internet forum...
aimlessly shoot stuff
What if you shoot your ghost, or friends, or walls. Lots of walls.

Edited by Smoothrivers: 2/20/2017 3:28:04 PMI'm 54 and also a stroke survivor, I'll hook up with you up anytime. My GT is smoothrives on both PS4 and xbone.

Seriously man, dont worry about the negative responses to the Autistic thing. You dont mention it - people will have a go because you didn't forewarn them for being dumb/annoying/useless/whatever they want to come up with You mention it - people say you're after attention/sympathy Either way you get -blam!-ed :) Good on you for mentioning it and letting people know, so they can be understanding of it when playing with ya.

Hey my offer from the other day still stands! As I said skill level makes no difference to me... You hit the nail on the head in your first post, it's all about fun! Hell you might save my ass during a strike and maybe I save yours during a Crucible match! Who cares, just keep shooting and someone is bound to win😜

Greetings keyboard warriors of the destiny forums! I would like to clarify the excessive stupidity you are showing yet again. OP was making a thank you message to the community. He didn't say anything implying a desire for sympathy nor empathy. He was mentioning his mental state (op I'm sorry if my terminology is insulting I can't think of a less critical term at the moment) so you could understand him better yes, but not so you would feel bad for him. He was simply stating that people were offering to play with him. Now I don't know about you, but where I come from not many people tend to make buddy buddy with disabled people. Now again it trying to me a meanie OP but this is likely one of the more profound and outstretched showing of friendship people have openly showed you. Simply judging on the fact that people are still horridly cruel to each other. I'm not sure how to conclude this paragraph... um... fite me m8?

Awesome story man. My son has autism as well as man let me tell you he can't handle a controller very well due to his hand cordination but he kicks my ass in wii sports and wii bowl. Glad to see people enjoy the game for what it is.
