Upcoming Health Regen Perk Corrections

There were some unintended changes applied to Health Regen Perks due to a change to Hungering Blade. You can read the full Patch Notes here and the further Explanation of what happened here. In the last 3 days since the Hotfix we have been listening to the feedback from the community and been working on some corrections . Our current plan is to roll back most of the unintended changes like Ward of Dawn cast, and Embrace the void. You can read the full list of rollbacks below. The other affected Perks are getting different changes that the Sandbox design team believes will be more beneficial to the game rather than simply rolling back to the old settings. Here is Sandbox Designer Josh Hamrick with an explanation of the changes.
Josh Hamrick: When we talked about Regen earlier in the week I ambiguously talked about what and when we would be making changes because I wasn’t entirely sure. The majority of the change wasn’t intentional, but when I looked at the problem from afar, I could see how it may be beneficial in some ways after hearing feedback from the community following the Sandbox preview stream. For example, some of you had concerns that Hungering Blade was changing while other similar perks, such as Cauterize, were not. This unintended change was going to give us the ability to see what that would look like to make both of those changes. I wanted to make it clear that it was possible that we could find something that we wanted to keep. I didn’t want to say that we’d put it all back, when we might not. Having an enemies ability or attack be able to completely erase any progress you've made and completely reset an encounter feels bad. Also, when 1 hit kill weapons are less dominant those abilities and attacks become more dominant, as they are much harder to stop. This change allows those abilities and attacks to still recover large portions of health and buy themselves more time without completely resetting the encounter and negating all cumulative damage that had come before. We have watched and listened all week and this is the current plan moving forward. I’m going to give numbers so that you have all the info, but THESE NUMBERS MAY CHANGE: For each of the elements below we are going to keep the change, but buff the amount of health you get back (+58%) - Hungering Blade - Red Death - Lifesteal - Transfusion (we are also removing the cooldown) - Cauterize (we are also removing the cooldown) For all the rest, we will be reverting the change entirely - Suros Regime - No Backup Plans - Ward of Dawn cast - Apotheosis Veil - Embrace the Void
We do not have a date that these changes will take place but are currently working on them and conducting tests. It is early in the process, so all of this is subject to change. But as of now, this is the plan. We will give you more details about when you can expect to see these changes in the game as soon as we can.

  • Please roll back the changes to bladedancer and blink. Bladedancer has not been a menacing super since YEAR 1. As mentioned in earlier comments, bladedancer is a dangerous subclass WHEN USED IN THE RIGHT HANDS. And now with the nerf to quickdraw, Bladedancer is not even viable for snipers or players who want quick pullouts for weapons. With TWAB before the patch stream, There was the mention to "File down a couple of issues from each class." Filing down a couple of issues equates to what is essentially a triple nerf for bladedancers? While I'm no software developer or expert on balance in any way, shape, or form, triple nerfing bladedancer clearly was not a great change. Why couldn't the other perks in the column be tweaked to provide alternatives to running quickdraw? While the hungering blade nerf was understandable, the changes to quickdraw and blink were not. Especially blink. Blink has not been an issue since year 1, and was in a halfway decent place considering the nerfs in year 1 to ready times and the later additions of a recovery penalty while using blink. The removal of HUD and radar while blinking was baffling because there was LITERALLY no consistent or large scale discussion in the community about blink being unbalanced or "OP" or even unfair for that matter. And on the subject of nerfs, why the nerf to landfall? a perk that LITERALLY NO ONE USES IN PVP. If anything, why not nerf the Ionic blink perk? Its whats used by the majority of pvp players who run stormcallers, considering how well one can close gaps with the perk. And the last point on removing HUD and radar on blink, WHY?

Well Red Death is now useless... Revert all health changes. Your players are leaving in droves due to your arrogant attitudes. No one was complaining about Regen. Ramming these changes onto the few players left is a slap in the face. This is overall a descent patch, but you have made your PvE players pissed as hell. Pretty obvious that you now outwardly show your disdain for PvE players by screwing the tools they rely on to excel. You should replace Josh ASAP, and the manager that approved this shit show.

    • We mainly asked for a primary buff. But you guys buff primaries and nerf secondary. Do you guys even think? We asked you to fill one cup to make it equal the other, instead you filled one cup then empty half the other. Do you guys listen to the community? Like ive mention before plenty of times, no you guys dont.

      • If you want to fix blink, don't remove the HUD at all and reduce the time it takes to fire afterwards from 6 days to something usable. Especially after quickdraw was nerfed it's ridiculous

        1. This wasn't an accident. That's obviously a plain lie. 2. Josh Hamrick should consider a new job. Literally everything I've seen him do was dumb - nerfed QD so "the QD perk on weapons was still viable" - nerfed hungering blade because HE was frustrated by it (sounds like someone has only played occasionally since year 1) and then lied about "accidentally" applying it to all health regen perks when it was entirely intentional - nerfed blink because it "split the burden between blinker and victim" whatever the heck that means Get somebody working on this who plays the game regularly and is good at it. Someone like triplewreck who just moved over there or someone like true vanguard who is positive and smart but good at the game and knows his way around with EVERY kind of weapon.

Josh Hamrick giving explanations? That's laughable, to say the least. You want us to believe in the guy who clearly revealed in your live stream that he nerfs things because he gets frustrated with them? Here's the direct quote of what he said in the stream about the Hungering Blade nerf:
(...)we found that, and by we I mean I found that incredibly frustrating to fight against
Still keeping Truth nerfed? Maybe he was getting frustrated with it too because there's absolutely no objective reason for that nerf. Still keeping Red Death signature Exotic Perk nerfed? It's a 99% PvE weapon. It's being nerfed why? Care to explain, please? You know what's really sad about all this? That after two and a half years over the first day of Destiny you still don't have a clue how to balance the game. And the proof is that we reached a time that sidearms are now the main weapon in PvP and weapons and perks in PvE are a pale shadow of what they used to be. It's painfully obvious you totally "forgot" there's a PvE side in this game.. And all this is really bad publicity for Destiny 2. Believe me when I say that, no matter how good Destiny 2 preview videos will be, the majority of the community will remember this past years and the mess you guys made trying to balance things. And btw... Your post is basically admitting that the "mistake" wasn't actually a mistake. The fact that you tried to sell it as a mistake says a LOT about your integrity and honesty towards Destiny community.

It is another nail in the coffin for the blade dancer... I personally miss it on Ophidian Aspect too... hope you guys listen again....

          • how about you guys revert the quickdraw and blink nerf on the bladedancer. bladedancer didnt need a nerf. thats why i dont like whenever destiny gets a patch, because they kinda fix somethings but -blam!- up everything else that didnt need fixing.

            • Communication is being buffed at Bungie apparently. Thanks for letting us know what is going to be a potential fix/update to the current game. BUT, what about "Vault Space"???? I seemed to remember something about "we'll be addressing Vault Space" in the near future." It's almost March 2017, just Sayin....... (If this is the wrong forum for this, sorry, but I followed the weekly update page where it says "comments."

Seriously idk why everyone is STILL complaining... Just trying to start something, anyway... I like the upcoming changes not "nerfs"...to Truth and Skorri. With Truth it'll be like Dragon's Breath; even though the clip is small, the reload speed will be too fast to even matter. Yeah the Warlock Exotic boots go around that, but Titans and Hunters don't have those lol. For Skorri I particular like this one because you have to get a kill, then chain it in order for the effect to even make use, so like a Bad Juju + Crowd Control sort of thing. No one will camp in Trials with this now, since sitting around won't get you a thing. And in PVE this opens some easy builds. If you were the ones who sat back and preferred not to rush in Trials, it's time to get better at the Crucible or just stay away from Trials. It's considered endgame PVP not the daily Crucible lol. It's a game mode where you communicate on where the enemy is to get the kill. Kinda sucks away that mentality if you "camp", plus that drags on the trip to that 8th match. Change for the most part, is always good. Can't wait to see in these 6v6 matches of Iron Banner what everyone will be drawn to for the fastest kills. Only get angry if there's a legitamet reason for it. "Your PVP is boring" "Oh great they nerfed Skorri again" these comments instigate lmao... Bungie is trying to tone this game, but I guess everyone is ready for a sequel huh. (: Just my thoughts.

            • Thx for the changes. 1. Please make skorri working with an Assist OR a kill. Or you will change the teamshot tactics by forcing one Player to get the kill. (Also, its both like giving the additional superenergy to your mates) 2. please give us in trials at least one mag from the beginning of every round for each Weapon. Each statistics of the weapon usage in trials says: We want to use special weapons. (There were about 50% of all kills with NLB, IB AMD sidearms - all of them were not touched by the latest nerf, only about 6% of all weaponkills werd by weapons you actually have to pick up ammo). 3. As a noob, That i am, with your Special changes it was Not Really possible for me to use the chaperone in mayhem (!). I'm sad about that. I die to often, therefore i HAD to use my primary Not because it was a viable option by itself.
Having an enemies ability or attack be able to completely erase any progress you've made and completely reset an encounter feels bad.
Balancing based on an encounter feeling bad. These perks have been the same for almost 3 years but all of the sudden they're too much now because of less 1 shotting even though shotguns can still 0HKO from good ranges even after the precision damage being removed. You guys are destroying this game. This reminds me of when you nerfed VF/ToF with Firebolts because you claimed it was "annoying" to deal with. I sincerely hope you guys sell off the rights to Destiny once you guys launch the sequel to a different developer. I have set through countless unnecessary changes to pvp for going on 3 years now because you guys have no clear vision of what you want this game to be. I want this game to reach its potential at some point. You guys were SOOOOO close during HoW. Taken King sandbox patch came out and it has been absolute hell ever since. From a beta player 2.5k hours put into this game, I am concerned with the future of Destiny and the sequel. If you're going to fix some of the perks, why not fix ALL of them ? This is exactly why your game is so damn unbalanced. How do you guys not see this ?!

Roll the changes back. Very few players had a problem with Hungering Blade. It would really help if we at least had a concrete design philosophy and vision for what Destiny PvP should be. Also, PvE is your game's main draw, not PvP, so you guys really need to make sure your buffs and nerfs are also not hurting PvE. You can't just throw out a single buff in PvE to cover everything. That hasn't worked so far, and probably won't work in the future.

Red Death needs to be reverted back to its pre-nerf status. It is already in an archetype of pulse rifle that is not extremely competitive. Changing how the Red Death perk operates completely takes away the personality and strength of that weapon. Also, I am not entirely sure why you guys even bothered messing with the health regeneration at all. Health regeneration stops the moment you are hit by something. It is very easy to counter. Hurting perks like transfusion and cauterize seems to make no sense me, seeing as how you needed a melee charge to even use them in the first place.

You guys should also consider reverting red death back to normal as well because the red death perk is what makes red death so special so not having the ability to fully recover your health is bad thing because the red death perk is what makes red death stand apart from other pulse rifles.

This is -blam!-ing awful on your part. They've gone and taken some sub par perks, -blam!-ed them, and "fixed" them by just buffing them a bit. -blam!-ing garbage. Cauterize, Transfusion, Red Death, and Life Steal were some of the only things going for the subclasses in PvE. Now it's gone. Like usual, your team has gone and -blam!-ed up the PvE scene, and I'm absolutely -blam!-ing tired of it. I've been defending this garbage game for a year now, and I can't do it anymore. This is un--blam!-ing-acceptable. I know this isn't necessarily what will happen, but you need to fix it ALL to where it was before. Because frankly, titans in PvE will become useless without bubble, and warlocks won't really have much that's viable. And don't even get me started on Red Death, because that weapon is already among the most unused pulses in the game, and this just makes the weapon even worst.
